my only issue is that the sword lunge isn’t long enough to punish players who swing with hammers prematurely. players with hammers also survive simultaneous melee attacks against sword users, but i cant remember if this was the same in halo 3 or not. other than that i think this is an awesome playlist

In Halo 3 griffball, hammer usually beat sword, and sword was more useful against the ball carrier.
Sword seems rather UP anywas in griffball.

basically i have to switch tactics and kill unsuspecting players from the side and behind. Not to long ago i got a killtrocity (whatever 6 kills is) using the sword. Still fun to use.

could you please explain how that works ?
@ snickerdoodle …your right there …not EVERYONE but i venture to say that over 50% of the players will have negative K/D stat … but then its the nature of the game … slam hammering, jumping and slicing … kinda reminds me of a hockey game where at the end of it, we all take off our helmets and none of us have any front teeth … LOL
I don’t know about “best” but certainly up there. I had a fun time playing this last night. Had some games in the +20/30’s range and we won too.

I haven’t had one negative K/D in Grifball so far, it’s a lot of fun.

Agree, it is so far. I agree with Robert.
It annoys me how the sword will loose against a hammer if the slightest clash happens. In Reach, once once you go flying and actually touch the hammer guy, you both die. Hammer is invincible in this grifball.
Also, its even better playing with friend. We’d play grifball in custom before it was made a playlist. We’d work on passes like it was football for fun and try to block each other. Almost no1 useless throwing function unless your partied up with someone.

I mainly carry the ball, so most of my gripes have to do with this section of the game. Auto pickup and sword snatch are unpredictable. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. I also hate how variable beat downs are, and how if you swing the hammer at any time during a beatdown the ball carriers shields go down.
Also, the ball carrier is yellow, what the hell?
Griffball is awesome. Played it for about 2 hours last night. I think I may be a addicted.
Grifball is the best way to get First strike master.
I liked it better in Reach without instant respawn and sprint and smashing the ball around. And that’s ignoring the god awful noise the hammers make in this game. I’ll play it every now and then, but it won’t be a playlist me and my friends flock to like we did in Reach.

That’s because when you pick up the ball you become Griff, hence the name Griffball. You know Griff from RvB.
