Grifball friendly fire problem

I know I’m not the first to write this and probably I won’t be the the last, however I’m really getting pissed off to be betrayed by teammates who just spam the hammer when they are one meter away from you, I understand it may happens, but they seem to forget they have a -Yoinking!- radar to check where you are; in my last match, half of my deaths were caused by teammates. As I said, it may happens, I unvoluntarily betrayed teammates too, but at least I try not to walk just behind them as someone does. It’s such a pain in the -Yoink- when you are close to kill the ball carrier with the sword, but a teammate decide to engage him with the hammer, and the result is that you get betrayed, the carrier is still alive, he kills your teammate and then he scores (I don’t know if you ever been in this situation, but I did too many irritating times). Removing the friendly fire will also resolve the related kick issue, and it will make a bit easier to survive if the other team is made by noobs who start spawnkilling (another big problem); reading in the other threads, some players complain the friendly fire should remain in order to avoid the possibility that teammates could easily “rocket” the ball carrier towards the enemy’s goal, but this already happen when a player perform the boost+slide+jump move before taking the ball, which isn’t nice to see if your teammates don’t know how to stop him. Let me know what you think about this if you want.

P.S. Tanks for reading.

I agree with you completely.

It gets annoying but it’s always been a thing and I don’t see it going anywhere

Probably they will never change it, however I feel like in Halo 5 I got betrayed more often than the previous games, but I love this mode so my hope is strong.

Very true and I love grifball to but have totally stopped playing. I’m in your company, hit me up and we’ll team up some time, I don’t think we’ve every played together. I’m not promising anything but at one point I got two killionaires in grifball lol.

I mean, a logical explanation to the whole “friendly fire” thing is just to support other playing styles. The play style is like Football; Your teammates are spread out to defend all angles and all possible counter plays.
If the “friendly fire” wasn’t enabled, you can run the ball with the rest of your teammates all around you literally blocking every single angle that the enemy can get you, which would suck if you are on the opposite team.

The whole point is just so everyone isn’t cluttered together. It would suck more if there wasn’t any “friendly fire” in the game mode at all because then it would support unfair plays and tactics (Such as the one I provided).

What they need to do is just turn off the banhammer for for when playing griff ball. Team killing has always been a thing in it and it was annoying in halo 4 when you couldn’t kill a team refusing to score.

I also feel that trolling is higher in H5

That’s why I love Rift Ball (Community Action Sack), I can’t betray with any of the weapons including the plasma grendaes.

Maybe it’s me that I understood it in the wrong way, but in the way you explained that, it seems that enemies can’t kill the players who are defending the carrier before him just because they are close together, which isn’t true, it’s always a 4vs4 match (if no one quits of course) so there’s no numerical superiority, it will be more difficult to kill the carrier at first but not impossible. I’m not sure if you were referring to the “american” football or the “european” football (the one americans call soccer), but anyway using a tactic like that doesn’t mean you are unstoppable from scoring goals or touchdowns; first of all in soccer (I would prefer to call it football becaue I’m italian, but in order to avoid misunderstanding I use the american name) it’s very unlikely to see players cluttered together, because there will be no lines of pass to reach the enemies’ box, and, if all your teammates are around you can’t make any shot (unless they open a space, but in that case enemies could get inside and stop you, and that’s my point), in american football a running back can use teammates as a cover, but as I said, that doesn’t mean he becomes unstoppable, because if the enemies’ line is stronger it can easily block him, so, in this sport (as in Grifball since there’s this possibility) the quarter back (carrier) can throw the ball and this add new tactics. That’s how I see it, hope my example are clear (I don’t know if they’re the best).

No, actually you are right. My example was pretty bad since I never actually seen a play like that happen. You never know what people in this community might come up with. Lol.

> I’m not sure if you were referring to the “american” football or the “european” football…

Yes, I was referring to American football, but nice use of the European soccer in your explanation.
Maybe I was not clear enough, but my point is that the friendly fire mechanic supports dynamic play and encourages different styles of play, such as if you are playing American Football, or as in your example, European Football as well.

This community is horrible enough as it is, and I think I rather deal with that one idiot than an entire team of trolls. Lol. But that’s just my opinion.

Unfortunately I have to use a balanced search setting in order to find a match that has no lag, and since I’m in Europe it’s difficult to meet american players or players at all.

Thanks for the compliment on the example; talking of trolls, sometime I had the bad luck to play against a bunch of noobs who started to spawnkill us, and in that case you have a really small time frame to hit them as you spawn, so the easiest thing to do is just to mash the fire button the fastest you can, but this way is difficult not kill (or be killed by) teammates. However I understand that either turning the friendly fire on or off has its pros and cons (and of course, the trolls will always find the most irritating techniques in both cases), it’s just that I would like to see how this mode will feel without the possibility of being betrayed.

I know, but I get really frustrated when I have to manage the lag but almost anything works, so, for my own sanity it’s better if I avoid any chance to get laggy matches (even if it means to wait 30 minutes for a match) XD
