Did the devs tweak the energy sword? I’ve had to stop playing grifball because of this weird occurence that happens a LOT. When an enemy tries to hit someone with a energy sword from far away it works. Like I mean from more then 5 feet away. It’s ridicolous how far you can kill someone with it now. Did it get tweaked or something? It only just started happening.

I think saying 5 feet does not describe how far you can hit someone with it. It’s out of the blue circle in the radar. It’s pretty far. I’ve not been able to pull it off. I think it might have something to do with aiming.
It didn’t just start happening. It has been there since the start. It has gotten to the point with more and more players using the sword, I have played against teams of just players using the sword. This problem is even more magnified when you combined this with spartan abilities like the charge, slide, etc.
It has been one of the main reasons my Grifball team stopped playing. It has killed the golden triangle of Grifball. Hammer beats sword, sword beats the ball carrier, ball carrier beats hammer. Or more like hammer = offense and sword = defense
If the nerfing of the ball carrier wasn’t bad enough. Once you add the magnified sword with spartan abilities the game can’t even keep up animating and sword carriers skip around the map.
What makes this even worse is the sword can lunge from outside of your radar which just creates some WTF moments.
Ive seen players that sprint, boost, then get a sword lunge and travel 2/3rds of the map
Well take this into perspective OP: how far was the distance when they attacked you with the sword?
If it was up close and personal, than it was a standard melee attack. - If it was as as you saw ~5ft, then they actually used smart-link(ADS) with the sword to melee you(yes, you can zoom with the Energy sword, it’s weird…weird but handy…no pun intended). - But it was slightly more than 5ft, what they did was Spartan Charge you with the energy sword, which results in an insta-kill.

When you zoom in with any sword you get triple that variants lunge range, meaning once their reticle turns red, you’re done, nowhere to run, no way to stop it.

I think it was that. Honestly, It must be then that the Smart Link is just too damn OP with the energy sword. It’s more then 5 feet away, and it’s definitely got to be closer.

I was thinking of just this. I’m pretty sure this changed recently, though. Because before I was mowing through people who didn’t know how the sword was only good against the ball. It might have been something in Anvil’s legacy or something? I’m not sure. For now, I guess hammer sometimes beats sword, sword sometimes beats hammer, and sword beats ball.
Oh and ball beats hammer.
I don’t know what golden shape to even call that.

The Energy Sword in this game is extremely annoying. The lunge is very inconsistent, sometimes you can barely reach the enemie from3 feet away, and some times, the ling can get you from 6-8 feel away.

Makes sense. The sword is the weapon of the shinobis.
But yeah that’s what differentiates the hammer from the sword, range. Of course you can easily counter it with a weapon with a property opposite to range…

No it was like that since the beginning and is fine as it is. You realize how utterly useless the Sword would be against the Hammer without the extra range? The Sword can never win 1 on 1 against the hammer. At least now you have a chance. It makes things more interesting (well as much as Griffball can get) as Hammer 1v1’s are stupid as -Yoink- and end up with both players dying most of the time. How is that fun? That tweak was obviously intentional and needed.
