I really hope somebody in the office has the sense to turn the betrayal kick mechanism off… I can totally see them trying to enforce a betrayal limit here, that will be the fastest way to kill this gametype.
Turning off the betrayal kick mechanism would unleash a can of worms, nobody is prepared for… I recommend they keep it on, even if it does mean there will be accidental betrayal booting.

EDIT: I misread the post,
Yeah, they should turn Betrayal Booting off, that’s a no-brainer, and I’m sure they even realize it.

There will be no one to play if they don’t turn it off.

You actually want it active in Grifball? I guess you never played the original, almost every game there was a round where in the first ball rush someone would wipe out half his team…
There’s really no upside here.
Turn Booting off: People would betray like there’s no tomorrow.
Turn Booting on: People would be kicked for accidental betrayals.

It was fine as it was in Reach. Turn booting off.
Grifball has always had betrayal on and it should stay that way, but if betrayal gets bad, it needs to be shut off.
I hope not. just up it to like 20-30.
Because no matter how -Yoink- you are you shold not be getting THAT MANY
You cannot remove betrayals as a whole from Grifball, it would utterly break the gametype.
I do think that the automatic betrayal booting needs to be removed from Grifball if it’s implemented into matchmaking.

Or simply turn off friendly fire…makes no sense to have it turned on.

Because then you can smash wildly at any group with no repercussions.

This seems like the most logical solution. Not sure if they would do that considering most arena gametypes include friendly fire.

I wish they’d do that for all games in matchmaking since it’s never helped online, it made Halo 1 unplayable. If people want to betray in H5 then they should stick to custom games.

It’s a logical solution for anything but grifball.
If Friendly Fire was turned off, the hammer could be used to launch teammates with no damage, and that would break the gametype pretty bad.
Even if you have friendly fire off, teammates are still affected by physics, which the Gravity Hammer clearly demonstrates during the playthroughs in the stream. (i.e. if you use the Gravity Hammer to kill a ball player like a pleb, the “Grif” can use the force of the hammer and jump over them, or ground pound if he’s high enough)

You cannot removed betrayals from Grifball, it will completely ruin the gametype and make it absurd.

Either that or being spawned betrayed, being punished for staying in the game then having an uneven team where the player get’s kicked then the opposite team just farms kills…yes I remember how bad it was in Reach. Keeping Betrayals makes the game unplayable.
OR…if all else fails, remove Grifball. If betrayals is what everyone fears, you shouldn’t be playing Grifball!

Yes, spawnkilling and being betrayed sucks but removing it completely breaks the game and will just turn it into the team smashing their runner across the court repeatedly. And if you’re caught out of position, you have no way of getting back short of running back. Being able to betray your teammates to get them back on defense is essential.
I think only the ball carrier should be betray-able.
