Hey guys,
I decided to make this thread to ask one simple question. Why did 343i add Mantes?
Throughout my fun and enjoyable games of Halo 4, I’ve noticed something. Something that I really do not like and wish 343i fixed. This is people who deliberately go out of there way to make your experience less enjoyable.
I have found that this is happening a lot more since Crimson came out. Now, this map pack was released with three excellent maps. One of them being Shatter. Shatter is such a great objective-based map. However, there is only one reason I try not to get this map and that is because it contains Mantes. Now the Mantis is a great vehicle. I am a huge fan of mechs and always wanted one to be added into Halo.
Now, here’s the reason I don’t like the Mantes. The reason I don’t like this vehicle is because people decide to camp at the Mantis spawn instead of playing the game. This really infuriates me. When I look for a game, I expect my team to play with me and not stay still for half an hour, jump into a vehicle and blow up in a few minutes.
After a while, this was not the case. People started playing normally again. Now when I play Shatter, I suffer the same thing again. This is probably because of the Mantis achievement 343i released in the DLC. As soon as I start the game I find my entire team running toward the Mantis. That’s fine. It isn’t my problem. One thing that I don’t like about this is that sometimes my team decides to kill everyone else around the Mantis or take out their Plasma Pistol. This will result in the enemy team, the team who are actually working together, to get a head start in capturing the objectives, while I’m left all by myself to turn the tides.
Just recently, I thought I’d take the Mantis for a drive to help my team. This was going great. Everyone else accepted that they were too slow and went after the objectives. One guy, however, thought it would be fun to spam me with his Plasma Pistol, making me unable to move and help the rest of my team. Eventually he ran out of ammo and I decided to stomp on him so I could actually get away.
I then started to head towards the Extraction point to help my team. Then the guy respawned. Instead of helping me clear the area for our team, he decides to stun me again. While I was stunned, three enemies came out with rocket launchers and plasma grenades. Now you would have thought that he would kill the rest of the enemies before going back into his little tantrum, right? Think again.
He continued to stun me while we were both getting killed. I eventually managed to kill everyone. Unfortunately, someone managed to plant a grenade on my Mantis. I then blew up and the guy who was stunning me then got killed in the explosion and blamed me for killing him. I could have easily killed the person before he hijacked me, but I was stunned so I couldn’t do anything.
This is why I am asking why 343i put in this vehicle that everyone fights over instead of playing. This is why I do not agree with the Mantis to be a vehicle in Multiplayer Matchmaking. All this results in is people spoiling your fun over a few stupid achievements instead of actually playing the game.
I would provided videos to show you what I’m talking about but 343i have not got around to adding File Browser to halowaypoint.com yet. Either that or I’m as blind as a bat.
