“Grenades are OP” seems to be a common complaint on both here and reddit. People act like grenade spam is new to Halo, but it isn’t. It’s been an integral part of map control since Halo CE. Well-chucked grenades will take chase out the sword camper, or the guy crouching in the corner with rockets, etc. The grenades are perfect, they don’t need to change, you do. It is easy to survive every kind of grenade encounter, be it fragmentation, plasma, spike, or dynamo. Here’s how:
*Strafe- Make a habit of sidestepping whenever somebody chucks a grenade your way. You don’t have to move far.
*Make use of cover: self-explanatory.
*Drop shield: if you have it, use it.
*slide/sprint- With these at your disposal, you have almost no excuse for letting yourself get blown up.
You can easily predict when somebody will chuck grenades at you: when they chase you into a room and you start camping, when you run around a corner in a narrow hallway, when you’re capturing a zone. What do you do? Prepare accordingly. Grab an overshield, drop shield, hide behind a rock, grab a booster to help with evasive maneuvers, etc. Grenades are easier than ever to evade thanks to all the maneuverability options available to you. So if you’re still getting shredded by them, then perhaps you should rethink your tactics or take a step outside and have a breather.
