I’ve noticed lately when trying to use frags and pulse grenades that they don’t seem to accomplish much. I only really see people using plasma grenades. I know pulse grenades are easily avoided making them not exactly very useful and frags seem to have a very small blast radius. I know plasmas are excellent at taking vehicles down and it is sad to see the tank/wraith blow up two seconds into their life by PP and plasma grenades combo. I guess my question is this:
Are pulse grenades and frags really this weak or am I not using them as they should be.
frags are vital as setup/support. try to sneak a nade across open area such as windows and ledges and then pop them when the shield goes down. or if you feel your nades are spot on double nade one behind and then one in front like a trap.
pulse nades are widely useless except for blocking attack or escape routes, they seem to be solely maent for support.
Well when you play on Adrift and 80% of combat takes place in narrow corridors the frag grenade is easily the most annoying thing ever. I have been hit by 6 or seven grenades simultaneously on that map.
I can see there use on adrift but on maps like ragnarok, vortex, and exile (unless used on B base) the frags seem to be very pointless opposed to using plasmas to eliminate enemy vehicles.
> So plasmas are the only real offensive grenade then.
you asked about frag and pulse. plasma is an all around nade but has floating and a long fuse, it can be used ust like the frag with a extended timer and the chance to adhere to the enemy.
Grenades have been made worthless. They’re weak and you can’t pick them up from the dead without using perks. This game was about weapons, grenades and melee. Now it’s more like weapons, weapons and weapons.
I have covered this and other failings in my article “Halo 4 makes me want to cry”. Please tell me if you agree or not. Hyperlink below:
frags ar shiel strippers, pulse gerdades are weak… and plasma are weak, if you ever palyed halo 1-reach the stickies were WAY more powerful. i would rather spawn with one “real” plasma that has been powerful. they used to one shot vehicles, have a larger blast radius. but yeah, you throw frags in advance to surprise enemies, or to flush them out. you should use them in the perfect situations
Unlike Reach, Frags now need to be placed correctly to do any real damage. This is a good thing.
Plasmas, however, need a radius buff. They’ve always been harder to hit due to their longer fuse, but have had more power (which they still do) and a large radius (which they don’t) to compensate. If I’m stuck in H4, if my opponent is fully shielded, I need to be touching him to take him down as well. I need to be at least melee range if he is unshielded. This is a touch too weak.
Plasma damage isn’t an issue with vehicles, but rather that their health is too low.
I used the explosives perk and they’re still worthless. All the perk does is increase the radius, not the damage right? Grenades are weak in Halo 4, even plasmas, someone could be two feet away from a sticky grenade and not even loose their shields. It’s pathetic.
Oh and the only time I use pulse grenades is on KOTH, if you throw 'em right it can fill the entire hill up and get some nice kills.
I love the nades in this game, I get so mad when I go back to Reach at how ridiculously OP the grenukes were. Now you can’t just fling grenades at the 1st sight of an opponent and luck out on a kill anymore. You have to actually use them skillfully now, as shield strippers more than anything else. Which I know is weird right? ppfftt
I see the shield strip as the purpose of the pulse grenade but the frags since their invention have been not a support but an offensive and highly lethal weapon against infantry.
I have read and have understood and accepted numerous posts here but what I believe we are all forgetting and missing is something right under our noses. It might seem like the grenades are weaker, they may or may not be, but I find it is now easier than ever to “dodge” or get out of the way of these grenades with the help of wait for it THE GRENADE INDICATOR! So many times have I just been able to move forward/backward/left/right/up etc. in order to dodge an incoming grenade thanks to that icon that shows me exactly where it is.
Due to this mechanic being added into the worst Halo ever, the grenade might seem to pack a less powerful punch (and dont get me wrong it might) but the act of dodging and minimizing the damage is easier than ever.
