Grenades need a nerf, because people spam them here like no other game I’ve ever played, even other Halos. Likely the blast radius and AOE need a nerf more than the actual damage because I’ve been hit for more than 50% of my shields by grenades that in other games, even other Halos, would have done minimal if any damage. Grenades have turned from what used to be a tactical decision when there were multiple enemies in a confined space, or something you would drop when close to dying, to a free kill button regardless if the grenade should’ve affected them.
Simply turning friendly fire back on would really fix this problem as it would force players to be more conscious of their decision to throw grenades. This is evident in all of the other Halo games, and I hope that they’ll fix that and also re-add friendly player collision.

I’m in Onyx 1534 this problem happens all the time I agree with OP the grenade radius is way too high I’ll get tagged with grenades I’m a good three full steps from for all my shields.
Agree. The grenade spam is insane. The damage or the radius could be toned down just a smidge.
Fair enough. I’m sorry you’re having this problem. I still miss having ff on, personally. I wonder what the best way to approach this would actually be so it makes sense on both ranked and social.

I was recently playing Halo 3 in MCC and the difference between grenades in 3 and grenades in Infinite is quite noticeable. Grenades in Infinite bounce too far, have too large of an explosion radius, and do too much damage. You can literally die from a frag grenade exploding right at your feet when you have full health and shields, that has never happened in a Halo game before, only plasma grenades could one shot before, which was counterbalanced by the longer timer on a plasma explosion. You can also be like 5 neters from a grenade explosion and lose half or more of your shields, much too large of an explosion radius. And they also bounce too far, which can make it hard to actually land it at an opponent’s feet like you want it too, while also making it too easy to bounce grenades into areas where enemies are hiding.
Really disagree about grenade spam being an issue. My stats (and frankly the dozens of other profiles I’ve checked) are all showing <10% of total kills resulting from grenades. The fast bounce I think makes it much harder to use.

Please, no friendliy fire. A lot of matches would just end with player booted from the match, because of “betrayal”.
Grenades are fine how they are. Radius and damage should remain how it is right now.
I’ve said this before. Each player should start with three grenades per match, after you use them you can only get them again by picking up from the map, you should not respond with grenades every time unless you haven’t used the ones you started with.
I remember the frags in Halo 2 being tactical nukes with only 25% as much bounce. In Halo 4 they felt like a fire cracker in comparison.
Absolutely agree. Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I think the biggest issue is the lack of Friendly Fire, which makes explosives much stronger, since you don’t have to worry about hitting your teammates. There’s also no grenade danger indicators, which means you can’t see when a grenade is close enough to hurt you, and you can’t even tell if it’s a friendly or enemy grenade which is now very relevant.
Seriously hope they give you only 1 frag to start in social, since FF is off. I would also be very happy to see grenades get nerfed in radius a bit so they’re not so easy to use.

The damage is fine. No issue there. But the radius is absolutely ridiculous, like Halo: Reach pre-patch level bad.
The main issue isn’t that it kills me, it’s that a grenade that is nowhere near me clips me and staggers my shield regeneration by another 5 seconds. It does also get some cheap kills when I’m very weak and someone just double spams nades that are not even accurate.
I’m Onyx in Ranked crossplay and D5 in Solo/Duo Controller, I’ve played just under 400 games and I really believe frags are a cheesy get out of jail free card at the moment. I think they’ve tried to design them similar to Halo 5, but in Halo 5 you had the thrusters to counter lazy nade spam.
I’ve also lost count of the amount of times I’m absolutely destroying someone in a gunfight and they respond by nade spamming me (out in the open, not on a corner or me chasing them) and them getting the trade on me.
Mix in a slightly too powerful AR, inconsistent melee and a starter weapon that has heavy bloom and you get gunfights (in non-ranked) that can feel really random and inconsistent.
H5 absolutely suited AR/pistol starts, I don’t think Infinite does. BR Slayer should at least be a Slayer variant in quickplay.
Also i feel like after a bounce the detonate really quickly. I can’t get cool bounces.
