So I was curious as to how much of a difference the perk that makes grenades have a bigger blast radius (and reduce damage) does. Well, I tested it out in a custom war games match. I tried 4 times, each with a different set up.
1: with perk, at feet to test for damage: shields almost all the way down.
2: with perk, slightly away from grenade to test for radius: no damage.
3: without perk, at feet to test for damage: shields all the way down.
4: without perk, slightly away from grenade to test for radius: no damage.
So it seems to me that the radius is not even changed at all, while the damage is reduced so minisculy, that the perk is pointless. Anyone had other outcomes?
Hmm, I haven’t tried it yet. I made a loadout for smaller maps which includes that armor mod. But I haven’t played on a small map since I made it… I actually hope that it doesn’t do that much, because I don’t really like to use grenades and I like other armor mods more if it’s not that powerful.
Not sure about the blast radius, but I’ve tested the damage reduced. It leaves a sliver of shields left over, pretty much pointless for that purpose.
You’d think it would reduce damage by half in line with the other “perks” (dexterity, aa efficiency, sensor, etc seem to follow a “twice as effective” rule). The numerous other explosive weaponry/vehicles would more than balance it out in that state.
