Grenades, abundant as rocks.

Frag grenades and plasma grenades, why are you everywhere?

After playing Halo for quite some time, I feel this needs to be touched on. I may or may not be correct on this, but hopefully it encourages ideas. Grenades are too common.

Currently, grenades are everywhere. Koth is a perfect example. Walking into the hill means you have to dodge 5 plus grenades. In big team, vehicles are nearly useless because of plasma grenade spam. I enjoy using grenades, but I do not think the perks or even the current grenade count is right for halo in its current form. Everything dies quickly, everything does ridiculous damage. Grenades on the other hand are just an annoyance. Used mindlessly to get random kills, or to stick someone with the sword as they jam it through you.

I’d like to see this change. I’d like to see people using their ordnance on grenades, because they are good and uncommon.

I think we should go the way of pulse grenades with plasma and frags. One grenade load outs all around. Pulse grenade is already used too scarcely and I believe this is one of the reasons. I also think grenades should be placed on the maps slightly faster than they are now. They should always show up as an ordnance option too. Making the choice between a SAW or plasmas difficult, but difficult why? Lets go into that.

Grenades are rather weak. Lets face it, they don’t even do damage to the full range of the grenade indicators. The indicators sometimes lag as well, staying on screen past the grenade explosion. So along with a slight buff to grenade damage the indicator has to go. I also believe the perk for picking up grenades should be removed. It should be given to everyone.

Why change them? A lot of people are complaining about how strong the plasma pistol is in big team, and how unsticky plasmas are. So I believe they need to be looked at. Lowering the grenade count would fix the plasma pistol issue in big team. People would be able to disable vehicles, and that’s fine. The problem is how most vehicles die to 2 plasmas. There’s 8 people spawning with 2 plasmas each life. An emp makes vehicles a stationary target for tons of grenades. Lowering spawn count and making them more abundant on the field would allow for more vehicle play.

This would also turn that grenade option in ordnance from a joke into a favorable option. At the moment, why take grenades when there’s a saw or rail gun available? Death rewards you with grenades so why should an ordnance reward the same?

This change would also promote smarter grenade use. Instead of spamming grenades into the hill or dumping plasmas at the enemy when near death, you would have to plan grenades, use plasmas defensively and frags offensively. Pulse grenades are great multipurpose grenades, not many people use them though. Maybe they are weaker than the other two, but giving you more of those limits pulse grenade use.

I somewhat agree with this, I don’t have too much of a problem with grenades but sometimes it feels like the enemy players have an unlimited supply.
I don’t really care what happens to the grenade count though, I take grenades from ordinance sometimes due to the fact that I’m on a kill-streak and they really can help out.

Are you playing Halo for the first time? Becouse in this one there are less than usual. As you can’t take granades from dead players if you don’t have the ability, means you get only 2 per time, mostly.

Agree totally with the KotH and BTB Vehicle comments… But recently i stacked a class with both explosives and wheelman perks and believe me it is much harder to take much harder to take down a vehicle with some decent driving. Just make sure you drive off as your shield vehicle shield dies to not take core damage.

I find grenades to be far less ubiquitous in H4 than in Reach and especially H3.

The inability to take grenades off dead Spartans without the resupply ability makes people hold onto their grenades more often.

Vehicles now require two stickies to kill them instead of 1 which is nice.

I’d just have to disagree with you. In H3 you couldn’t walk around a corner without getting stuck. Much better in h4.

This is clearly the words of a halo noob. I am bloody grenade starved!

I put less time into reach than h3, so that part I can’t comment on. Halo 3 everyone started with an ar. Grenades were on map and that made plasmas very favorable. With the beatdown lottery before the update I didn’t have a problem getting stuck instead of someone playing it.

Now we have customizable load outs the option of grenade type and weapon type. Instead of someone trying to range you down, I too frequently run into people with suppressors that when all else fails dumps plasmas at you when near death. Or spawning with my team only to have to dodge 6 cross maps frags from the respawning other team. They are less there than previous halos, but in my opinion there’s more death in this halo. More people have a chance to get kills. And with the current system I don’t believe you should be rewarded with an ordnance option for dying.

Having plasmas on map also allowed for vehicles to stay alive much longer in h3 the warthog is a perfect example. It’s commonly used in h3 now it’s just a fast moving multikill for someone that just respawned.
