I recently had a little kid yell during a game, " if we throw grenades we can win" and he’s right. Halo reach and 4 have had overpowered grenades. Hopefully in 5 they won’t be mini pocket nukes.
Can you be more specific? Do you mean you think plasma grenades are unfair or that you don’t like the perk explosives which make frag grenades and pulse grenades do a lot more damage? If you are annoyed about being stuck by plasma grenades a lot you could try thruster packing into a wall at the last second. I have heard that this will make the plasma nade not kill you. I could be wrong about that though. If your annoyed at always being killed by pulse/frag grenades try using the perk explosives which will make you more resistant to nades. hope this helps.
Actually, Halo 4 grenades are nothing compared to Reach’s. Try playing both games in short succession. It’s a massive difference.
If you were talking specifically about Reach I would completely agree with you that they are overpowered. Unless the player is using the Explosives perk the grenades in 4 are actually fairly well balanced.
In my opinion one of the things that 343 did well was to limit the impact grenades could have, obviously I’m not referring to plasma grenades in loadouts here. It always felt odd in the older Halo games where players first reactions to getting shot was to throw a grenade to get you “1 shot”, rather than shooting back. To some extent this has been rectified.
I would advise you use the Explosives perk as it limits the damage you take from grenades. I also agree with using Thruster pack to dodge the grenades, the best solution, in my opinion would be to become more aware of when and where grenades are likely to be used. Hope this helps.
My experience with plasma grenades is that they are too easy to use. No matter where you throw them, if in a small space, they will either hit another player or they will kill you. On the other hand, pulse grenades seem to be pretty ineffective. They are easy to escape and the pulse itself is the only deadly part. Frag grenades are balanced, without the perk, but with the perk can a little over the top. But thats just me, I’m not one for perks.
Yeah grenades are a bit overpowered, but theres nothing they can do about it now.
when i last played the grenades in halo 4 were horribly UNDERpowered…when did this change?
The grenades in Halo 4 and Halo Reach are nothing compared to the grenades in Halo CE. Reach’s too, are more powerful than Halo 4’s.
The big difference is that, in Halo 4, a Spartan’s shields take a long time to start recharging, 6 seconds to be exact. It’s longer than in any other Halo game.
Very astute point Freak, the simple fact is that while the grenades are actually fairly underpowered, particularly compared to Reach’s, the fact that your shield takes longer than past halo games to recharge might make it appear that they are more powerful than they actually are.
I’ve never understood why you don’t spawn with 2 pulse grenades like every other, it’s a great concept for a grenade yet only spawning with one seems a bit stingy.
I would prefer more powerful grenades a la Reach.
