Grenade Varients

We have weapon varients, vehicle varients, armor mods… however we do not have grenade varients. Yes we have the Frag, Plasma, and Splinter grenades, but my idea is to have variations of those grenades.

Frag Grenade: UNSC standard.
Smoke Grenade: Creates a small screen of smoke FX, minimal damage, used for tight spaces in an armory or garage. Detonates on contact.
Cluster Grenade: Creates additional mini explosions upon detonation.

Plasma Grenade: Covenant standard.
EMP Grenade: The green cousin that sticks like the Plasma, however sends out an EMP blast to disable vehicles and shields. (Splinter grenade has an EMP, however you can’t stick it)
Flash Grenade: Blinds your target for 4 seconds, deafening their sound, and disables radar within the effect. Detonates on contact.

Splinter Grenade: Forerunner standard.
Pulse Grenade: Halo 4’s Forerunner grenade.
Radiation Grenade: Sticks to any surface, emitting a DoT effect as an area denial. Can be used for party tricks and your friend’s (and enemy’s) face. Detonates on contact.

Eh… I’m not really feeling any of these.

Unfortunately, Halo 5 does not have a Spartan on fire animation. Only when you turn into crispy flakes. I miss those grenades too.

Flash grenades would not work in Halo because unlike in COD, you can’t just spray and get a quick kill while blinded. Halo takes focus and great aim.

I don’t think it would be hard for 343 to add a flaming Spartan animation. Getting them to do it is something else entirely.

Pulse grenades were useless. Even if they added it in, it would need MAJOR tweaking, especially to combat the Thrust everyone has.

Splinter grenades explode on contact, so it would be pointless to add a non-lethal Covenant version.

Smoke grenades, well, aren’t the most particularly useful. Throwing a smoke and running in guns blazing sounds much less useful than throwing frags and running in guns blazing.

What about having a grenade that doubles as a tripmine?
