343 Can we see more grenade variation for the unsc. I mean i like the frag grenades but can we see sonic grenades and smoke grenades and napalm grenades introduced into halo infinite. It would be nice to see different explosive types that the unsc uses. Maybe you could have mission specific grenade types so extras like sonic grenades and napalm grenades could be played on specific missions and thats it. But I would like to see the unsc use these types more often
I’d be down for like an EMP grenade that could immobilize vehicles and take shields out. Maybe make it an impact nade. And smoke would be interesting. My concern is muddying the waters with too many grenade types. I feel like what we have now feels right.

It would be cool to see the Incendiary grenade from Halo Spartan Assault and Strike make it into Infinite.
I would like to see 4 Nade Types in Total… Since u can carry every Nade Type at the same time, it would generate a complete Nade Fest if there’d happen to be more Types… Splitter and Frag for sure, I would like to see the Flame Nade make a Comeback… And then one flashy Type, like the EMP-Impact or Smoke Nade mentioned by someone before… Or maybe an Impulse Nade, making you see outlines of Foes through Walls (handy for Campers) but with a Range of 7-10m (u have to be in there to get the Benefits to prevent abusing)… Something like that… Or, since I don’t think Equipment comes Back, a Bubble Shield Nade, when activating/throwing you throw straight into the Ground and it acts like a Normal Bubble Shield then (Actually that’s my favorite Idea for the 4th Nade Type, now, that I think about it…

I mean, that’s cool and all but why make grenades for the sole purpose of using them on one or two missions. Why not implement them across the entire game?

Real grenades don’t actually sound like too much, just a soft “wump” and maybe a ripping noise of flying metal. The echoing boom of most video game grenades is an illusion.

It hasn’t ever struck me as a problem that Halo lacks in grenade variety, but of they elected to bring back incendiary nades from Halo 3 I wouldn’t complain.
I’m all for a bigger weapon sandbox so count me in! While adding more UNSC grenades would be cool I’d like to make sure to give the other alien races a shot as well. Smoke grenade would be perfect for when you have a ODST-style tactical highlight visor feature.
As far as carrying capacity in concerned for balance reasons I’d probably just limit the total number of grenades able to be carried. Like only being able to carry 6 total. The limit for one type of grenade probably being 4. And of course those numbers could be modified in something like custom games.
I just want the same grenade selection to mirror that of Halo 3: ODST. Four grenade types, each good for their own situations. I don’t think there should be more than four, because you need to think about how easy it’s going to be cycling through and picking your desired grenade in the heat of an enemy engagement. But I really miss the Spike and Incendiary grenades.

The Incendiary Grenades were redundant from the beginning for me. What’s the point of the Incendiary Grenade while the Power Drain is so much more effective? We have the Splinter Grenade now, which is far more satisfying. That said, the OP might be onto something by mentioning that some grenades should be mission specific. The Incendiary Grenades were fun to use on the Cortana level, but that was about it.
Napalms aside, the OP also mentioned smoke and sonic grenades. I’m not entirely sure what a sonic grenade is, but I fear that smoke grenades and flashbangs might be more frustrating than fun, even when thrown by the player. Halo 3’s flares were easily their worst equipment. It’d just be like throwing one of them, and is there anything really fun about doing that? What does it really add?
The only grenade I can think of that might be worth testing would be a gravity grenade like the ones in <mark>REDACTED</mark> or the Dark Matter cubes in Turok, but even then, I kind of feel like we’ve got a good set of grenades with the Frag, Plasma and Splinter grenades in Halo 5. <mark>REDACTED</mark>'s <mark>REDACTED</mark> are also an interesting idea, and I like them over the Incineration Canon, but again, do we want to risk muddying our grenade arsenal? Whatever the case, I hope this is a discussion regarding Campaign only. I certainly don’t want to see too many grenades in Multiplayer.
I think the 3 types we currently have are fine, but I think it would be nice to have something similar to that of the brute fire grenades from Halo 3 in Infinite. Come to think of it, any new grenade type would be a nice addon and(hopefully) work better than the Pulse grenade from halo 4.
