I’m guessing the update today removed the grenade toss button combo that allowed for grenades to be thrown farther and faster.
Why?
I feel like button combos are great. Anything that will help increase the skill gap.
It gives players something to practice. (I remember having customs in H2 and just practicing BXR and Double shot for hours so I could do it during games)
The button combos in Halo 2 were loved by many. Awesome plays could be pulled off because of them. ( I can remember Walshy quad shotting a noob combo… everyone went crazy)
And besides how awesome does it feel when you chuck a sticky across the map and get a stick?
Idk maybe it’s just me, but I thought that improved the game. It didn’t affect gameplay much and it was risky since essentially a player had to run at the other team which would expose him/herself.
Button combos are exploits, it’s not like they were actual skills, or more like fake skills, they weren’t designed to be in the game, and the hosts couldn’t use it, that’s why they were removed.
Honestly I’m fine with things that the host isn’t able to do.
Host already has the advantage, its in the damn name. The HOST gets the advantage of having HOST.
Personally I thought it was a fair trade. You get host, and the myriad advantages which come with it, and I get super grenade throw.
It was honestly a good way of balancing out host, they should’ve left it in.
The host is at a disadvantage, due to the nature of the lag compensation.
> The host is at a disadvantage, due to the nature of the lag compensation.
I’ll have to take your word on that, not being a rich kid I wouldn’t know about host lol.
Why?
Because it was a button GLITCH. Not a button COMBO. It wasn’t intentionally designed to function that way.
If you want button combos, go play an arcade fighting game. “Button combos” do not belong in a shooter.

C-C-C-C-COMBO Breaker!
> The host is at a disadvantage, due to the nature of the lag compensation.
Not really. The host is just as equal as others. Everyone’-Yoink!- detection is client side. Latency delays that host experience with other players are the same as other players’ delays with host.
Host is only at disadvantage compared to netcode without LC.

Host used to have a big advantage, but now they’re doing some weird stuff to keep the bad kids from raging, I guess the game caters to casuals. Either way, I guess if you’re good enough, you should be able to beat another person, as long as there isn’t big lag.
what grenade throwing button combo?

The host ends up having a harder time seeing the people who teleport. Also, the host obviously can’t do the mentioned glitch. If that’s not a disadvantage enough…I don’t know what is.
The buttom glitch is still in.
> The host ends up having a harder time seeing the people who teleport.
It works both ways. On the one hand, host can kill a person who lags and “stands still” on his screen. On the other hand, a teleporting player can kill the host while host haven’t seen him moving to a new location yet. Anyways, it’s not a problem of lag compensation. It’s a problem of poor ping/region filtering and poor host selection.
> Also, the host obviously can’t do the mentioned glitch.
That’s why I’m glad they took it out. And once again, it’s a glitch. It may have been caused by LC but it’s not a LC feature by any means.

Sorry, I think I didn’t make myself clear. The host would be at a general disadvantage had the glitch stayed, but it’s even grounds without the glitch. I was just trying to say that the host did not have any advantages, nothing that could compensate for the grenade glitch.
Hmm well i guess it was just me then…
I felt like BXR and Double shot made Halo 2 better.
Maybe the grenade throw should be implemented.
I guess I like anything that adds skill to the game. Just because it is a glitch doesn’t mean it doesn’t add skill.
> The buttom glitch is still in.
Hmm maybe it is. I might of had host.

Oh, gotcha. I thought you were making a counter statement to a post above:
> Host already has the advantage, its in the damn name. The HOST gets the advantage of having HOST.
I responded to both of you.
If you want to brag about being good at using button combos go play Street Fighter.
This is Halo.
Yes, glitching increases the skill gap.
Clap
Now, why don’t we all point a gun at ourselves and pull the trigger? Gamers has apparently gotten to a point where they feel glitches are needed to increase skill-gap.
I prey they’ll remove it, so you have to use THE ACTUAL THROW in a skilled way.
OP, guess what?
Glitching = Makes noobs

It works on host also.
