Grenade tips please?

I’ve been playing Halo multiplayer since Halo 2 but the one aspect of gameplay I’ve never been able to master is grenades.

I’m never sure when it’s the best time to use them. If I use them in the middle or at the beginning of a 1 on 1 then I’ve usually lost most of my shields before I can recover and return fire.

Just looking for some general advice

Click grenade button and as soon as you click it, instantly utilize sprint to glitch a Long Throw.

Thanks, I didn’t know you could do that. Will try it first chance I get.

I find it is better to throw your grenade at the beginning of a fight to get rid of their shields, rather than mid way (of course, assuming I would even use grenades at all for this, as I prefer simply shooting them if it is 1vs1 unless I know their mates will be here soon, or that they have a power weapon). When I throw the grenade, I try not to do it in the fight, if possible I make it the first thing I do, and preferably before they are aware of where I am. Obviously that isn’t always the case, but quickly taking cover after throwing should be done whenever possible so your not helpless.

Although, if you are confident with your shooting, I would avoid using them in 1vs1 (apart from the situations I mentioned earlier), unless it was to take out someone who went into cover after you injured them, and you know they are still there (ie, they are behind a rock and you can see the only exits).

Oh, and bouncing grenades off the ceiling indoors can be a nice surprise to. I find they are less likely to go past the target, and because the travel is less direct, they sit still for less so it is harder for people to run away from them to.

1.) Watch your motion sensor and throw one at the enemy’s feet when they come around a corner. NEVER during the middle of a 1 on 1 battle unless you know you lost that battle, then get as much damage as you can on them and chuck it at the ground right before you die.

2.) Angles, angles, angles. Always throw a grenade off a wall when going into a room where you know an enemy is camping. Soften them up and go in for the kill. But beware, they may pull tip #1 on you.

3.) Use the grenade tactical and support upgrades. In H4 grenades help a lot, carrying around an extra nade or having a bigger blast radius never hurts

hope this helps

theres a glitch for making them go farther, goto my forum post and you can watch the video it helps alot.

A frag grenade won’t be primed until it hits a surface once. If you can figure out exactly how long the fuse is, you can use this knowledge to great effect… or at least you could if you weren’t throwing pary poppers

I was in a middle of a match when I read this. The moment I tried it, it just blew my mind.

Thanks a lot man!

Never throw a grenade in the middle of a DMR/BR fight because they’re still putting in damage on you while you’re throwing it. Throw it before any shots are fired or don’t throw any at all, unless you see they’ve retreated behind cover or reloading.

It really helps to learn how to use plasma grenades, practice sticking in story mode!

If there is ever a cluster @#$?! of people just chuck both your grenades in there. And if one on one and you’re both hiding behind cover throw a grenade to one side to flush them out to the opposite side and fire. Or throw one grenade to the left and one to the right and then charge, it will catch them off guard and/or help bring their shields down.

For 1v1 situations you have to anticipate the enemies movements. If you guess right shield is down automatic kill. For a chaotic situation with multiple people going at it at close range launch the grenades in the center of the action ASAP…Double Kill!

I use one at the beginning, and the second if I have to retreat.

Don’t solely rely on your grenades for a kill. Use them to take down shields, and shoot before and after the explosion.

It’s pretty tough to get a frag kill by itself with no aid of shots
