Grenade Jumping - High or low?

Grenade jumping is a big aspect of Halo back during Halo 3 and 2, as it could get you to places quicker and get you to hard to reach places too. However, in Reach grenades changed - it became more of a nuke and less of a tactical ball you can place for different reasons. Would you like grenade jumping to be more like Halo 3 or more like Reach?

Personally, I’m hoping that the jump height is high enough that grenade jumping had a use, giving you perhaps an extra second or 2 advantage over enemy players in things like getting to an ordnance drop quicker, or getting you to places where you have an advantage, etc.

Am I the only person that thinks purposely weakening yourself into order to give the other team an easy kill isn’t considered a smart thing?

Well yeah, but a smart player wouldn’t do it unless they had a very good reason to.
Even so, I rarely (if ever) use it in multiplayer. More of a campaign thing for me.

In reach this would apply because of the health + shields system and the slow shield recharge time, but in halo 2+3 you didn’t have to permantley sacrifice health and the shields recharged much quicker.
If halo 4 has halo 3s shield system then grenade jumping should return

You couldn’t of played any high level games of H1 and H2 to say that. Grenade bounces were super clutch in objective games or Slayer. Some of the best competitive games I’ve ever watched, 1v1 Zyos/Ogre 2 on Prisoner, were FULL of grenade jumps that added to the strategy.

OT: I’d like to see grenade bounces worthwhile in H4. I like the idea of being able to sacrifice shields to jump up into a building instead of having to take the long way around. Adds some depth to the gameplay and people that know certain jumps can be rewarded for their map knowledge.

I never used it in mm. It’s more of a Campaign thing for me.

Only if you’re a bad grenade jumper. If you’re good, the shields will be barely scratched - By the time you reach an enemy, you’re shields would have recharged, especially considering that Halo 4 would have better shields than Reach.

You can’t be serious. Have you never played a Halo game?

HLG? NO?

Same here.

I feel like grenade jumping is mostly meant for Campaign, and not MM. Sure, you can pull off a grenade jump to get the tactical advantage over an opponent in MM, but it’s far more risky and it certainly takes a higher level of skill than it would in Campaign. We should definitely be able to grenade jump like in past Halo games, for sure. I don’t see why this feature would just be removed or nerfed, since grenades aren’t nukes anymore and jump height is more reminiscent of Halo 3.

I hope grenades jumps go back to the way they were before Reach because it was just one of the little things that helped to add to the skill gap and made the game harder to perfect.

One word: Sputnick

I really hope that grenade jumping in halo 4 will be similar to that of halo 2-3.
Grenades couldn’t be used for it in reach because their damage was too high and they didn’t give you a big boost at all…
With the removal of jetpack in halo 4 nade jumping will be vital for hlg, I was dissapointed with the nade jumping in reach and i hope that 343i doesn’t make the same mistake
