I’ve seen a few posts claiming that the much disliked Grenade Indicators from Halo 4 were not present in the latest gameplay footage from the Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer Beta. However, I have spotted what I think may be a much more subtle Grenade Indicator. At 1:12 in this gameplay clip you can see the player turn around after killing an opponent with his BR. The player then proceeds to charge and kill another opponent with the Prophets’ Bane. Before the opposing Spartan dies, he threw a grenade and you can see the red damage indicator rotate around the player even though he is clearly not getting shot.
It appears to me that the Damage Indicator also doubles as a much more subtle version of the Grenade Indicator. Thoughts?
I don’t think the indicators were ever needed in the first place, and now with these thrusters to avoid grenades 343 should just remove the indicators entirely.
it looks like he did get shot, you are talking about the red directional arrow around the reticle right?
no it wasn’t a grenade indicator the guy shot him before he killed the guy with prophets bane and the indicator is referencing where the damage was from so it spinned around once he walked over the guy

I can agree with that statement, but do you think I found something in that clip? You can see the red damage indicator appear while the player is getting shot, but it remains after his opponent dies and it rotates 180 degrees around the player before fading out. The indicator did not fade out immediately even though the player was clearly not under enemy fire.
Grenade hitmarkers and grenade indicators(an icon warning you of a nearby grenade) are two entirely different things. Grenade hitmarkers need to go, I don’t quite care as much about grenade indicators, but those could easily go as well.
I can’t recall seeing grenade indicators but I will have to go back in check. I definitely say grenade hitmarkers though.

Nah it is definitely a damage indicator, not a grenade indicator.

After watching a few more videos I think you’re spot on. In a few other instances the exact same thing happens with the damage indicator when no grenade was thrown at the player.
As said, it’s a damage indicator. That scene was part of the leaked footage, so I watched that part quite a few times in slo-mo
