Great video on the Ordnance system.

PaulB gives a rational opinion on the way the system should be handled.

Now I do agree with him. The randomness in Ordnance is at times unbearable. Halo 4 would benefit from set weapons spawns (not random) because of its balance. We know the old system works.

And also PODs would be perfect with a hefty revision. Those should not be random either. Instead it would be better off as a set of three rewards specific for each map.

I, like Paul and many others, love Halo 4, and care about its quality and balance. I do long for the day Halo 4’s weapons system is more centered around skill than luck.

Thanks you all!

discuss.

Nah, ppl would just camp the weapon spawns in the other games. Halo 4s system gets rid of that camping and makes it so everyone can get a chance at power weapons, not just self-proclaimed “MLG” monkeys

I agree completely, its hard to argue with that kind of logic.

It makes sense. The drops would be infinitely more balanced, but it promotes camping. Matches would become incredibly slow-paced and boring… like CoD.

I like it, but I dont like that you inevitably get it, it gives bad players a chance to get power weapons.

I wish the meter went down a little from deaths, I dont want any stragglers getting a rocket launcher thinking theyre good

I would get rid of ordanance altogether. Fighting over the power weapons was a hallmark of Halo.

Now anyone can get god knows what which makes the game less consistent. Maybe I just had the COD copying or maybe its the fact that 70% of the time my drops consist of pulse grenades, needler and speed boost.

Okay i agree it needs to be fixed. There is nothing more frustrating then running into something you didn’t expect but the randomness of the orindence drops helps a little to prevent camping. Think of this say on haven if bottom middle every 2 mins spawned a scatter shot well two people could lock down that area with dmrs and keep picking it up. Thats the problem with fixed drops it encourages camping it just does. At least with the random drops it forces some level of overall movement. But yes it needs to fixed on personal ordince it just does. Once in a game in i had 4 personal ordincence all the same (needler, pulse gernade, and oversheild) and the other team had 2 snipers and 2 saws yeah makes a whole lot of sense. But to go back to fixed weapon spawns might work but it could go back to camp city like in reach.
I really don’t know how to fix it but the old system was kinda broken and this one is as well so yeah something in the middle could help or hell just making more area style maps could help as well.

I like your idea a lot. Some where the two styles of weapon spawns can meet and bring one incredible gameplay experience. But how?

never saw it

Another great video by Paul B. I approve.

or we could make the map weapons go back to it’s roots instead of constant fiesta mode.

Sounds solid.

Yes indeed.

This is how it should’ve been from the start; weapons spawn on the map at certain times and are the same every match. Personal Ordnance is map-tailored, and the same three choices every time you earn a drop - that way you can plan.

I just want to drop a note here:

It is spelled “ordnance”, not “ordinance”. The mistake is actually kind of funny, and really common here on Waypoint. Here is what “ordinance” means: “an authoritative rule or law; a decree or command.” Here is what “ordnance” means: “military weapons with their equipment, ammunition, etc.”

With the number of people misspelling it as “ordinance”, this forum may as well be a city board discussion. Just a light-hearted note

I actually like the random map drops. As everyone else pointed out, takes camping out of the game. My problem is with the personal OD’s. I think I’ve gotten 150 needlers, and maybe 1 binary rifle. Way too random. I’ve also heard that the losing team get better personal OD’s than a winning team. Any truth to that?

You realize that your post is a joke right???

Random weapon drops/ordinance drops ENCOURAGE camping.

In Halo, you have 2 objectives.
> secure power weapons/vehicles
> secure key locations on the map (choke points, vantage points, high ground, ect)

But with random/ordinance you have just 1 objective.
> secure key locations on the map (choke points, vantage points, high ground, ect)

You have no reason to leave any spot that your team controls.
Translation…Camping.

OOPS!!! lol

Ordnance drops do NOT discourage camping. They all have pretty much the same chance as any other spot of getting a weapon, so you might as well just hold down a single ordnance drop site with your DMR.

> But what if a good weapon spawns at a different ordnance drop site?

Someone else was probably camping it and probably already grabbed it.
