So evidently the GRD helmet was suppose to make it’s appearance in Halo 3 (or so they said in a recent Rooster Teeth video). But it has evidence of being in Marathon as well.
So I am not sure anyone noticed this, but the pilot of the lifeboat Chief is one is sporting the same visor as the GRD helmet.

Not when I looked at it. For me it is just a helmet with that face mask thing covering her eyes horizontally.

On topic. The helmet is not named grd, the name was made by trolls, so calling it the grd helmet is taking part in the biggest prank halo has ever seen.
And the pilot of the bumbelbee cheif is on, is wearing a pilot elmet. It isnt even close to the Odin helmet (aka grd) That helmet has been there since halo ce.

But GRD is just what everyone knows it as. We know it’s not the real name, but what else do we call it?
Found a video from the original game. Go to :45 to see it. And keep in mind that all that is on the pilot is the visor part of the helmet and that this was TEN years ago. So the actual helmet that was spotted in Reach has been modified since then.

Lets call it the Odin helmet. It makes sence, odin is a god from norhen belifes. Mjonlnir was the god Thors weapon, comes from the same religion. Odin had only one eye, and his spear was named gungnir. It makes perfect sence.

There is a lot of helmets with an eye. Same goes for gungnir. And that circle/eye looks nothing like the grd helmet Its a good theory with saddly its wrong

So you don’t know the real name either. You are just trying to be clever is all. Which I will hand it to you is smart thinking. But I still like GRD.
And of course it was from CE. But Bungie is notorious for putting easter eggs in its games. And lets not forget that the GRD helmet was spotted in REACH. So it could easily be a reference to the CE Pilot.
The reason I dont like to call it the grd helmet is beacuase the name was made up by trolls. I dont like seeing trolls actually achieving something, thus i prefer the odin helmet Xd
And btw Bungie had nothing to do with anniversary or the`GRD helmet``
Im sure we will get some new armor soon, and hopefully we will learn the true name of the helmet
