Gravity Hammer Commendation Issue

At the end of a match I had 3 medals for Gravity Hammer kills, but my commendation progress said 1/5 kills completed for the first level. I didn’t call in any of the hammers myself so I don’t remember which ones they were. I’m thinking the commendation only counts kills with the base hammer instead of the variants. Has anyone else noticed this?

It may not be the case for you, but I do notice that sometimes with the Gravity Hammers, you’ll either get a Grav Hammer kill medal or a Melee medal. It’s pretty arbitrary. So you may have gotten 3 kills holding the Grav Hammer, but you might have been only credited with one Grav Hammer medal and 2 Melee medals.

I was thinking this was possible as well, however when I checked my medals at the end of the match there were definitely 3 Hammer Kill medals. I’ll be testing it out more today though to find out.

I had to refresh my commendations page on Waypoint for it to reflect but it definitely updated.

Looking back at my match. It seems like my hammer kills showed up as melee kills in the kill feed, but still gave me the hammer kill medal. I didn’t realize that could happen since I never really use the hammer. I figured I wouldn’t get the medal if it counted as a melee. How would I go about avoiding this in the future? I used the trigger, not the melee button, for each of the kills.
