Gravemind Speech

> “There is much talk, and I have listened, through rock and metal and time. Now I shall talk, and you shall listen.”
> -Gravemind

The Gravemind speaks poetically, and with a sort of pattern. I’m working on some fiction which includes the Gravemind, and I have been trying to find out how I can replicate his speech pattern. However, I have been unable to find out if there’s any sort of rules or specific measure he’s using. Any help would be appreciated.

Look up “iambic pentameter” (trochaic or iambic heptameter too according to wikipedia). That’s the speech pattern he works with. There’s a story from Evolutions where Cortana brings it up and he explains that he has consumed many poets from many species, which is why he talks the way he does.

It has been a very long time since I read that story. I might just do that again later! I bought the original Halo Evolutions but not the Volume’s 1 & 2 that came out after, so I’m not sure if I am missing anything there.

Here is the summary of that story OP.

I don’t have the special volumes either so I think we are good. It’s such an amazing story imo and really opens up the possibilities for the Logic Plague, which I hope comes into play in Infinite. I really want the Flood back in the main line games, if you can’t tell :stuck_out_tongue:

I would love their return! From a gameplay perspective I find them more fun to fight than Prometheans, and from a story perspective the idea of Prometheans is cool (albeit I see Flood-like similarities) but I find the Flood more interesting as an enemy.

Same here. I’d rather see the Prometheans take on the more passive role of the Sentinels from the Bungie-era games. They still attacked you (depending on the level), but were far more concerned about the Flood threat. This would turn any fight against the Flood into a three front battle with humans, Flood, and Prometheans all duking it out. You could even have a moment in H6 where humans are fighting Prometheans right up until the moment that an infection form skitters across the room, then the momentum shifts and everyone is going at it free-for-all Slayer-style.

That’s a pretty cool idea. I have my suspicions of the Didact’s return, and if it happens I expect he’ll reclaim his Prometheans. With that in mind your idea could totally happen.

This one is but flesh and faith and is the more diluted

There are two stories exclusive to volumes 1 and 2. Enjoy

Can’t thank you enough for this!!! My lore addiction will be satiated for one more night

EDIT: Just read both stories and loved them. Thanks again, I had no idea these existed at all!

You’re welcome  They’re super cool and I’m grateful to the Reddit user who shared them with me.

Lol. If poetry was able to give an AI as smart as Cortana the Logic Plague, then we are really screwed.
