How fast is the Gravemind able to move from one place to another?
In H3 he’s inside High Charity, and he knew that 04b was going to be activated as he sent lots of Flood to stop it, so was he able to move somewhere else in that time?
Also, if he did die in H3, will there be a new Gravemind in HW2?
If 343i want to use the Flood again, a Gravemind would be a good addition as it can control other Flood forms so they’re better coordinated for whatever their plan is.
I’m guessing there will be at least proto-gravemind.
I think that the Gravemind itself isn’t actually moving. The Flood swarms that area, and, using the biomass that it has accumulated, it reforms the Gravemind wherever necessary.
If there is a Gravemind in Halo Wars 2, it’s going to be the same one from before, but with a new physical body. Its consciousness will be the same, but the body will be made from new biomass. However, I doubt the Flood will have reached the Coordinated Stage when Awakening the Nightmare takes place, so probably no Gravemind. It’s main objective as of AtN is probably build up up enough mass to move past the Feral Stage and into the Coordinated Stage.
This is just my opinion, but I believe we haven’t heard our last poetic phrase from our old frenemy.
I believe once it discovered that Cortana had an activation index, and knew Chief intended to use it, it simultaneously sent flood forces to stop Arby n’ Chief, and tried to find refuge inside the Ark from a very likely activation of the new Halo installation as a backup plan. Even its final quote as the ring is prepping to fire hints that its not the end of itself, or the Flood in general: “Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved… but you imposed.” The Flood as a whole may not be as strong as it was, or maybe it is if those Abomination forms are present during the campaign missions, which to that extent would mean a full fledged Gravemind is formed.
This may not be the case at all, and im willing to accept it if im wrong, but the pieces in my mind are fitting in a way that says the Gravemind that we dealt with for two games, and if present in HW2, has now survived two Halo firings, is still alive.
Which could have serious implications for the Soell system if the Flood aren’t prevented from taking over the Ark…
