So the 2nd map just released, and it features a few more weapons, smarter AI, as well as the grappleshot. Now that we finally get to see it in action it’s time to ask; what does everyone think about it?
I grabbed it 3 times so far. I actually really like it from what I’ve used of it. Range is shorter than I thought it would be but still plenty long. There is some minor physics interaction with it, thankfully not just a straight pull. You get 3 charges with it which feels pretty fair imo.
I managed to do 2 decent plays with it so far. First one I grappled an enemy then melee’d them to death at the end (it pulls you to them, not them to you). The second I had just grabbed the gravity hammer and didn’t want to lose it so I grappled away through a window high up, escaping enemy fire. You’re pretty defenseless while using it but the speed is well worth it. Definitely a better verticality tool than the jetpack imo.
So any thoughts?
Well I didn’t get to use it much. Found it immediately. Failed a few shots because I thought range would be longer. Finally got a few shots landed. Spider-Man’d around the map a few times and never used it again because I was lost. The little bit I used it I really liked it though. Looking forward to using it more. It seems pretty good overall. Not broken so far and fun to use.

Glad you managed to get use out of the hammer. I died my first time trying to use it because I wasn’t expecting it to have a wind up lol.

oh yeah, that thing is heavy af now, but it also seems to hit farther than before which is nice. Really satisfying to use overall

After using it a few more times, it’s def5 very satisfying to use. Just needs better ragdoll physics and more knockback in general and it’ll be perfect imo.
The hook was kind of cool to use. I hope it isn’t limited to 3 shots in the campaign. I didn’t get much use out of it form the couple of times I had it. Idk in general everything seems slowed down a bit, especially compared to halo 5. But maybe that’s a good thing overall.
I was overall kinda disappointed that abilities are one and dones. I will probably edit a gametype to change that. Maybe a “HaloFall” style of games with exclusive human weapons and hopefully there a slider for increasing slide distance.
I feel like distance should be increased by a few feet, but overall it was… Interesting? Idk I haven’t used it enough. But I got ample use of over shield which can turn a 1v3 into the 1’s favor.

Not 1 and done. You get a set amount of charges. Drop wall is 2 uses while grapple is 3. Given the strength and general abundance of these equipment I think it’s a decent way to balance them.
I think it’s fun as hell. Way better than I thought it would be.
It feels like Apex’s grapple honestly, But with a bit more weight which I enjoy, I honestly feel like it fits. I’m excited to try the other equipment aside from the wall.
I love the grapple shot, tend to use it more to get to a good point, speed up a jump, or grab the gravity hammer.
Its a fun bit of gameplay, but not a requirement which makes it even more fun. I mean in most situations I would rather have 3 drop walls then 3 charges of the grapple, but when the grapple shines oh it shines.
Like get the grapple and the grav hammer and let loose.

Not really, as the game play flow is better with multi use items it allows them to experement. We have single use power items but having a set of drop walls or 5 grapple bolts doesn’t really change the game flow much.
I don’t think the grapple will break maps, purely because maps are being built with it in mind. I mean there is a reason it isn’t on the training map. Personally I think they have done rather well with adding it.

I think grapple as single-use would be pretty useless.
Breaking maps is possible but I doubt it. Just need to adjust the grapple a bit. Spawn times, # on map, # of uses, etc.
It’s range isn’t as bad as some were fearing.
Feels super smooth cant wait to use it on a btb map.
I like the Grappleshot. Its range could be a little longer, but I think it’s a neat piece of equipment that (thankfully) doesn’t break map design.
i like it so far think its pretty balanced and 3 uses is a good amount IMO. Not broken by any means but we will see as time goes on and if any changes are made to it in future builds.
I didn’t think I would like it; I love it. Grapple + hammer are going to be a problem. I was having fun yesterday running around and grappling towards the enemies and slamming down. Obviously, good players will stop you but on unsuspecting players? Yeet!
