Or at least as a permanent ability. Imagine if you had that in the past Halo games? Can you really have fun grappling a scarab every fight? Hooking away to avoid hoards of flood? You break tension against any difficulty fighting anything besides infantry. You also ruin any linear campaign mission pacing. I feel like pacing will be ruined and turn every situation into the same motion. It’s why there is no other gameplay mechanics besides run-and-gun missions. It’s only fun for an open-world sandbox idea. Also is why in the first two missions in Infinite, you couldn’t hook scale everything due to its starting high cooldown. Once that open world entered, they let you do whatever you want.
It doesn’t support any other pacing besides action. I personally enjoyed missions like Truth and Reconciliation, Floodgate, Nightfall. Imagine an ODST vibe with grapplehook. You ruin the vibe for all those types of scenarios. it shouldn’t return as a permanent, but a pickup, including the other equipment.
It ain’t going anywhere and I wish they would of kept Halo 5 Armor abilities, they were balanced, not overpowered as the man babies claimed to be and they made sense for a Spartan having those abilities, Now with Infinite and its abilities, You’re just an armored Batman with a utility belt of gadgets. . .
I actually don’t prefer the armor abilities. Every form of gameplay mechanic relied on those thrusters. In Infinite, there are so many new mechanics used for different abilities, its much better here.
But for campaign alone, permanent abilities should leave. There is no room for gameplay variety if we can just practically fly anywhere.
No? I said I don’t mind the grapple as a pickup. I also said the same for all the equipment given to us which included the thrusters. The grapple also isn’t reliant as the thrusters in PvP since its still a pickup. I don’t know where you’re going with.
Thats because we only hit a sandbox level of gameplay. Why do you think there are no huge eventful fights in infinite, like fighting a scarab, kraken, or huge structures? When trying to grapple some of the main structures, the grapple will just snap and you fall back to the ground. We destroy the point of its difficulty to defeat them with arsenal since we can just grapple everything.
Nobody realizes this yet because they just enjoy flying around an open terrain.
I mean…I think we know the answer to that. Or at least most of the people here will say that its more about the very troubled development of the game as a whole instead of anything to do with the Grappleshot.
‘Cause I know I want to scale a freakin’ Scarab with the Grappleshot. I’m sure enemies of such scale will have their own hurdles that may provide a challenge to go through, even with a Grappleshot.

If people don’t want to use it, that’s up to them as most of the game’s levels aren’t even designed around the Grappleshot.
However, I’d say part of the problem is that most of the levels weren’t designed with the Grappleshot in mind.
They just added a gap here or a skull there and called it a day.
Another thing is that without the Grappleshot, bosses would be even worse since they move so quickly, and some of them can jump across rooms.
Also, it’s not like the missions in the game were worth going through slowly (that’s what I did though).
Maybe if they toned down the bosses and made the levels actually interesting to go through, look at and explore, limiting the Grappleshot wouldn’t be a bad idea.
you going to complain now about the grapplehook when the game is out.
there is one thing for sure is that it will stay in the campaign mode how its now so deal with it more.
since there not going remove it in the future campaigns or chance it.
if you not like it then not use it.

all the equipment in the campaign are not limit to use since there have all a cooldown in the first place.
so that means if you are going to limit lets tell like in the multiplayer then you get more a big hate feedback about it from a lot off other players that are not happy about it.
not forget about the brute chieftains with there good friend the hammer and there big jumps with it.
there are players that not wane do it more and wane have a little challenges in the game more by not make it it unlimit.
and the grapplehook was not only for the basic thing to use like move to higher place’s or move between a other place’s like in some missions have.
it was also something to pickup some weapons that are close to it and the shock,plasma,fusion and hard light coils.
and here are some other problems if you make it limit.
1: there have added the grapplehook in the campaign as equipment to replace the reduce sprint there have done.
without the grapplehook what its now you get a big problem on a lot off missions and the bigst problem is the last mission the last fight since you cant compleet it without grapplehook in the last boss fight and with reduce sprint only.
2: if players use it for brute’s,grunt’s or elite’s to stun then and sent then also flying and need it later on in the mission then what you have a big problem.
3: is the same thing as point 2 but then with weapons then you get later on in the level a big problem.
i can keep on with a big list about it but in general we all use the grapplehook in diffrend way’s in the campaign and to make it limit is do notting good about it.
the OP is not happy about it so that is his problem more.
what he wane see more is that there bring the campaign mode back to the classic way’s and thats something is never going to happing and people like that really need to start to understand its not going to happing any more.
In that case, maybe 343 could add a skull that gives a long cooldown between uses, but increases the sprinting speed.
5 uses of the Grappleshot, and then you can’t use it for several minutes.

then that skull most not count for the LASO achievement or any other LASO achievents there going to add in the future.
and if there going do that and add the skull for it in the campaign then its only a start that other people going to start complain about the other equipments in the campaign also.
there are time’s in life you need to start to deal with it and start to accept it.
and this are things more there need to start to deal with and accept if there like it or not so is it in the real life also that you cant always have it right.
and this type discusions have been make all a long time when the game was still in development.
the point was clear back then all that there are people not happy with it and now there have release it there have to deal with it.
nobody tells you to use the grapplehook or any equipment in the campaign mode its your own call to make if you wane use it or not.
that some things become hard then its your own problem then how to do it with grapplehook or any equipment.
that you get stuck on some missions since you not wane use the grapplehook is there problem more.
