I like Halo Infinite and appreciate that it’s free to play, which means its likelier I’ll find friends who play it.
After playing through most of the campaign, I’ve really got a new appreciation for the grapple shot. I was playing Tactical Slayer and the idea occured to me that the addition of universal grapple shots to it could really be a great game mode. One of the things that makes the Infinite campaign stick out for me as a particularly fun game is the grapple shot’s strategic power and visceral gameplay.
I think this idea would work on existing maps just fine, but might also be particularly fun on a map designed to have a lot of verticality and density, with explosive containers abound, and perhaps with fall-to-your-death stakes. It would create a unique and enjoyable FPS experience that isn’t found anywhere else, an extension of one of the best parts of the single player campaign.
So yep, that’s my idea. I tip my fedora to the team. Happy holidays

Oh you mean like Halo 5 was when everyome had thrusters?
Go try Halo 5 forge on the PC or download on the Xbox. That exact type of game is already made and apparently people don’t want it even tho it’s the most fun I ever had in a video game

Great idea, let’s hope the devs see this and think it’s worthy of a game mode.
I love the grapple shot too and want to see it more in multiplayer.

I have been using the grapple shot in Multiplayuer when I can. It is so fun getting those melee kills. They never see it coming.
Add the sword in Fiesta…you are unstoppable!

I don’t see them adding fall damage. Too many people would complain about how Spartans shouldn’t take fall damage.
I second this! Maybe this could be a gamemode within a larger action sack to help with filling lobbies, but I think having a chaotic mode where players can use grappleshots infinitely with low cooldowns would spice things up a bit. It’s a shame that the grappleshot can seldom be found in multiplayer and even then only has five uses.
Re: Fall Damage. I was thinking more like, pits, or, being on a platform, or something like that. I agree that keeping it without fall damage is the right call for Halo
Halo 5 has no grapple shot. Halo 5 offers nothing like what OP is suggesting: a universal grappleshot mode.
I assume there will one day be a variety of game modes featuring universal equipment of different flavors. Grapple shot and thrusters are the obvious two, but imagine a sumo-ish game type where everyone has bottomless repulsors.
