Grapple Hook is too much of a game changer in campaign

I don’t know its just hard to form an opinion on something I’ve never tried for myself. If I think Horse meat my be gamey but never tried it, is it still the flavor I imagine it to be. If I never sky dive but watch a review from a reputable thrill seeker do I really know what to expect?

I just think its hard to argue/debate either side if its too much or too little for campaign. We’ve seen it in multiplayer and the most recent blog addressed the bugs about pulling the flag with it, but moving around the map is comes with its own penalties.

If anything the application from what we’ve seen is already too much but that doesn’t necessarily mean if its good or bad for campaign. Just infinitely spider manning from tree top to cliff sounds broken but surely comes with an unknown consequence that is not revealed at this time.

I think we “somewhat” know what to expect, but not fully. We get the picture, but might be missing something.
I respect that “you” feel like you can’t form an opinion until you’ve played the campaign, but I don’t agree that this needs to be the case for everybody.
What determines what we like is different from person to person, some people might have already experienced the things that determines it for them.
Yes we can absolutely turn out to have different opinions after playing the game, but I think we usually get ourselves pretty accurately, so bringing the concerns up is completely reasonable in my opinion.

I don’t know; I think with this style of campaign that won’t really be the way it works. Mobility and different approaches from different angles is the whole MO; I think this is just one way to accomplish that.

Also, let’s be real: if you’re patient, Halo’s campaign was never “hard” exactly, it was always just fun cause you had to find at least a semi-creative way of getting past the more tricky areas, if you were playing on Legendary. I think this is just Infinite’s way of making it fun.

During the flights I made huge use of the grapplehook. Not only for hijacking vehicles, but also for getting myself out of trouble. As for Jackal Snipers, DAMN I hate those little mongrels. Ever since I did my Halo 2 Legendary run ( LASO can go jump in the lake ). In Infinite, jackal snipers will probably be able to shoot you from the other side of the Halo ring, while you are grappling.

That is a good point.

In the campaign?

During the flight I was using it constantly.

A skill tree is a branching linear progression system.

Many of my favourite rpgs have no skill tree.
A character sheet is another system or a by use leveling system are 2 alternatives for example.
Then there are your classic jrpg with set character progression instead of the traditional Western skill tree.

As for it trivialising things that’s not really accurate. If the game were to scale with our progression as most do it is more a way to incorporate greater challenges than previously possible.

The grapple hook had a use count in all the campaign footage I saw. Enjoy using the grapple to get to places and have 0 left to use in combat.

Then don’t use it. If you can’t do that, go play another game.

I dont plan on using it at all, its not part of my spartan fantasy to grapple onto things.
