Grapple Hook, AA or Weapon?

If the Grapple Hook were to make a surprise appearance in halo 4 would you rather have it be as a weapon, a Armor ability, or not included at all?

I’d rather just find a different route than be an open target.

Sorry but no.

Is this general cube?

I think it would actually be a really fun option for Custom Games.

why put in a grapple hook when they have a jetpack they essential serve the same purpose

In the rare case this is not a troll thread here’s my input. A game mechanic similar to a “grappling hook”, an item that is thrown, attaches on impact, then pulls the user to the attachment point, would be either Equipment or a Grenade. The former is more likely than the latter but both would fill the necessary role. The grappling hook’s properties would include:

-limited range
-automatic attach on impact
-automatic pull provided attachment occurs
-cooldown penalty if attachment misses

This way the user must only press one button to fire, and hopefully get pulled up by, his grappling hook.

I would like them to test both a weapon version that is a pickup and hold weapon and a armor ability version. If a AA>>>>

Press and hold, than release to let off grapple. Remember Grapple allows you moment in most any direction. To enter combat(offense) and exit combat (defensivly). If used with crates, or if it had a differing more pulling effect fly crouching it clould also be interesting.

yours was a great list, i would like to add a few more things

  • inability to grapple shielded players or posibbly player at all(if determined in balanced)
-grapple vehicles will pull you and slow vehicle at differing velocity rates depending on vehicle type.

no

I would say weapon, since it would be harder to balance an AA. A weapon can simple have limited ammo ^^
Would be fun to be able to “grapple” the gunner from the turret of a warthog, or grapple the hog and “secure” the line to a rock. then the driver has to get out and untie it/shoot if off in order to be able to continue driving. Might even add a "grapple grenade2 function, grapple, then attach a grenade to the line and let it fly ^^

Although I doubt we’ll see the grappling hook or the tornado gun unless it’s an easter egg, that would be awesome though ^^ (campaign only)

not at all. Jetpack can move upward in open areas with nothing above it very quickly and easily. However a Jetpack does not have much aggressive movement in multiple axis as does a grapple hook. Used in conjunction, they could be extermly deadly. For example I could grapple a wall to the side of me and slide over to it horizontally to escape a fight, or enter one. This cannot be done with jetpack.

sorry, but i just can’t see it happening with the jetpack already in and all. maybe it could be a device in forge mode or customs like the golf club, kill ball, etc.

idk  just seems like we have this covered with existing features

If I didn’t read First Strike I wouldn’t have known that even SII’s have a grapple hook. Since they do, why not, unless it forces maps to have stupidly tall platforms.

Did you read the above post?

grapple hook is so much more than just a jetpack.

Even if only in forge mode and custom games, dont see how it could hurt.

Totaly forgot it was in cannon, now i remember linda used one. And if the concept was there, why not a more advanced version in halo 4!

it wouldn’t hurt, and i do believe it is more than just a jet pack. im sorry if i gave you the worng impression.

and i get what you mean; the grapple could be a quick way to escape a fight your doomed to lose via a swift launch in an untold direction. its a great idea and im all for it, i just don’t know if the chances of it being implemented are very high =/

How about this? A grapple hook that has one sole purpose: bringing jetpackers out of the sky. That would be fun, especially if there is fall damage.

NO GOD NOOOO!!! NO FALL DAMAGE!!! Pleas for the love of God, get rid of fall damage. Spartans are tough, their suits are designed to handle atmosphere high falls so a 20 foot fall shouldn’t do -Yoink-, other then canon, HALO IS NOT A GAME WHERE FALL DAMAGE BELONGS!!!

NOOOOOO!
