I was reading through an interview on VGC with Chris Lee and other 343 employees. Importantly, when asked if Infinite’s graphics will improve, Lee said:
“Halo Infinite is still very much in development. The team is very focussed on bringing the best experience possible to fans and we still have a ways to go. So this is definitely a pre-release version of the game that folks are seeing today.”
I’d say that’s good news. As of right now everything has a very polymer look to it. Textures are too flat, and there doesn’t really seem to be dynamic shadows, at least on dead covenant models. Of course if it’s the artstyle you don’t like, then that most likely won’t change much. Just keep in mind that this is a demo of a game at least 4 months out, we don’t know how long ago this demo was recorded, and the stream quality wasn’t the best. I’d recommend watching the YouTube upload in 4k, it looks much better.

This.
Typically when a demo is shown at E3/other conventions, it is a built much older than the one currently at the studio. The graphics are subject to change always, till the release date and people need to keep that in mind. I’ve seen alot of criticism for 8 minutes of gameplay, that ONLY shows the campaign portion anyways.
Man, I hope so. They should have made it a lot more clear that the demo build was pre-release and not final or even cancel the gameplay reveal to further improve the game. That reveal was a terrible first impression. I expected much more from that but the gameplay looked good to me so that’s a plus
Yea I hope they do update some of the models like the brutes face in the cutscene at the end. Looks so dated. With that said Graphics for me aren’t the be all end all or however that saying goes.

Graphics should be extremely impressive though given the technology available and it being a next gen AAA title and when you look at the graphics of Halo 2 Anniversary.
Ray tracing is going to be added down the line which will improve the overall look a lot. Honestly, the only major issue I had with the graphics was the low-res brute leader at the end.

Gameplay looked alright, I like the art style as well. However I was expecting more from the graphical fidelity, a lot more. Much was made of the new engine created to build this game and much more has been made about the Series X’s 12 TFLOP’s. What I saw today looks like things I’m running now on my 1X. I’d even say Doom Eternal on my
1X looks better than this.
This game is 4 months away, not sure how much improvement I could expect before that. They had to know people would be disappointed by the visuals they’ve shown.

I’m just hoping that this was just a stable pre-release build from early 2020 and that the devs actually had time to fix the imperfections of this build by the time the game launches

I hope you’re right!
I have game pass ultimate anyway, so I don’t have to take a chance and buy the game. I can play it first. If I don’t like it, no big loss. Of course I had really high hopes for this Halo and what they’ve shown did not impress me very much at all.
