Graphics for Halo 5 question.

Hi All,

This may be a newb question, but is there a reason why Halo 5’s textures look a bit “grainy”/ “blurry”? I know this is a beta, so maybe 343 toned down the resolution to accommodate faster downloads and less HDD space, correct? Other than that, the gameplay is great and it feels like a fantastic Halo game.

one its a year out and all the polish and what not probably isnt done till towards the end. 2 its only running at 720p where the final game will be around 1080p

Most textures, especially on the armors, aren’t fully complete and polished yet.

it’s a early term beta.
it’s downscaled to 720
it was created froma digital download, so resolutions will also be scaled down significantly, to save on dl size for the ebta.

Ya and that the game is slotted to come out in about 11 months, so its obviously an unfinished project. I’d guess that after the MCC release that they want to focus on the more technical aspect just so we the fans won’t have to experience this nightmare of a release over again.

I was wondering about this too. Assassin’s Creed Unity also looked grainy and blurry to me, yet Halo 2 Anniversary looked crisp and clear and amazing, so I was half wondering if maybe my Xbox One had something wrong with it…or yeah if this was just the Beta being not finalized with the graphics.

Cool! Thank you, everyone! I just wanted to know the technical side of this.

It doesn’t help that the game is running in 720p to begin with. The Halo 5 beta literally looks on-par with Halo 4’s graphics, just at 60fps. And on that note, the framerate drops like crazy.

But alas, it is a beta and come the end of the development cycle it’ll be optimization time and hopefully our woes are addressed.

Indeed, but it shouldn´t change much. But textures make a lot of difference.
