Graphical improvement?

To start off i would like to say im not trying to create global war when i say, halo reach looks exactly like halo ce:a and for those not picking up what im saying… its been a year and there has been no graphical improvement at all! not even a tiny little spec has been altered - I believe halo is better than any other game story and multiplayer wise but in the graphic compartment i have realised it comes off as cartoony and unrealistic - Hey i dont mind a cartoon game but with halo, i think it needs more attention.

Halo Reach in my opioion has the best graphics of all the halo games. I wouldn’t mind a graphical improvment or CGI for cutscenes. But for everyday gameplay I like the art style.

What kind of resolution do you have? Look very closly you’ll see the improvement.

I disagree, Halo should stay being a ‘cartoony’ game.

CGI would be cool if it looked like the game, not better than the actual graphics in game

I actually think it looks better than Reach.

lolwut?

CE:A and Reach are both built upon the same engine, multiplayer wise, so the graphics will be nearly the same in comparison. As far as the campaign in CE:A to the campaign in Reach, graphics have been upgraded largely. Watch the campaign gameplay teasers and look again. Major graphical improvements were made, in fact CE:A is running two graphical layers simultainiously.

I dont mind it being cartoony but i do mind that the graphics lack that realistic look

Improve the graphics too much and the framerate will suffer. 343 needs to find the right balance where the game looks nice and doesn’t have broken splitscreen at the same time.

First off op the multiplayer is reach so it obviously isn’t gana be any better than reach, second the single player does look better than reach.

Just no, Look at other popular games like cod and gears, they don’t look realistic at all, if anything halo is one of the most realistic looking games currently out there.

If you don’t like Halo’s art style, go play something else. The last time Halo tried to be realistic art-wise, we got Reach. We don’t need any more of that.

But halo isnt realistic at all.

Halo’s graphics are fantastic.

Halo isn’t about realism by today’s standards. It’s about realism on foreign planets far into the future, with extended contact with aliens. Anything is possible. Therefore:

Are Halo graphics "cartoony?"
No. They feature bright, vivid colors, but at the same time it looks very real. Now, would real soldiers run around wearing brightly colored armor…ever? No, but who knows, maybe the covies are colorblind (if this has been addressed anywhere and I am wrong, I apologize).

The best thing to compare Halo to is its rivals, most notably CoD. If you’ve noticed, CoD artists focus on the especially realistic things. A bookcase has detailed volumes on it; a metal detector has lights just where they should be; a door has a nice, shiny doorknob.
Halo focuses on the small things and cuts out the confusing clutter. A single flower blows gently in the breeze amidst perfectly green grass and a beautiful sky. The doors don’t need doorknobs because they are automatic, freeing up particles for other things. Little pink needles explode after being embedded into someone. Light shimmers off water–Halo isn’t cartoony at all. It’s alien, bright, and beautiful.

Bungie started in Halo CE with making a great environment. Since then, the environment has stayed the same, but the details have improved, rather the opposite of most other games. The Spartan’s armor has all kinds of nooks and crannies, the alien guns look alien and awesome (call it cartoony if you will)–the aliens themselves even have four mandables that move around based on what is happening in the game. It’s incredible.

That having been said, Reach went backwards. Sure, the particles look great. But the lighting effects are nothing more than meh. When you get the chance, boot up H3, load Guardian and grab a carbine. Run around and watch the light play off of it. Now go do that in reach, with a similar looking gun. It just isn’t the same.
Warthogs in reach look like a single glop of ink.

G2g, maybe I’ll finish this later…

I SnipeBound I don’t know what you have seen but Halo CE: Anniversary’s Graphics are amazing and in no way look cartoon like. If you are referring to videos shown of the campaign demo and the exclusive pre-order bonus footage then fine you are right to say that it looks like Halo Reach, because it pretty much is. But everything seen in those videos apart from scenery which is still being updated are place holders for final designs that will be integrated into the final game.

So saying that there is no difference in Halo CE: Anniversary’s Graphics and Halo Reach’s Graphics is a bit aggravating considering that the game is still a considerable amount of time away from release and if you have seen the latest footage of the remade level 343 guilty spark you will change your mind because it looks beautiful and you can see that a lot of time has gone into it.

But even then the game is still being changed and made better every day some of the A.I models and guns like the assault rifle and jackals in the video have been updated very little and still they look amazing so by the time the game does hit the shelves I’m hoping it will leave people lost for words.

Well, in my opinion it looks a hell of a lot better than Reach. Not trying to be rude, but you need to open your eyes and examine things more closely.

I don’t know what you’ve been smoking, but CEA looks crisper, cleaner and overall yummier than reach.

I get the feeling that the OP isn’t talking about the graphics themselves, but the aesthetics of the game. Graphically it isn’t too much of an improvement from Reach but it is better. Aesthetically the games are a little different. Reach had duller colours where as CEA is much brighter. I get the feeling that when he says “cartoonis” he means that it’s less realistic than other games. I have to disagree. The world is full of bright colours and this is something that a lot of developers seem to be forgetting. Halo is no less realistic for having bright colours, in fact in some instances it’s probably more realistic than a lot of games (looking at you GTA IV). Reach had a far more desaturated style that worked in some levels but not all.

Anniversary has much more detail, is brighter, has better foliage and has real time shadowing.

Covies are not colorblind. At least, Elites aren’t. Color is used to denote rank, and they use the bright colors because high rank is very prestigious, and they consider it important that soldiers immediately recognize when a superior officer is around.

Spartans typically don’t use obnoxious colors. We’re just given that option because it would be boring to only have green, brown, grey, black, etc.
