Grandma wants Halo One to be 1080p!

Grandma - so do we

Where is the triple thank button?

Haha, I agree with her

That’s…awesome. ; )

Listen to your mother…wait grandmother

I vote 1080p too, although 60fps we may end up with 720 or 900. Who knows such things until launch? With Corrine Yu and the engineering team at 343i/MS/X1 I rest easy knowing they’ll have the best chances, tools and talents to get the most out of my new next gen console though.

Good luck with Halo 1080p *crosses 10 fingers and toes then crosses the dogs paws for added luck.

I’m sorry to be the carrier of bad news but Xbox One’s native resolution is 1600Ɨ900 which means Halo 5 will be upscaled to 1080p and not running natively 1080p.

PS4 however has a native resolution of 1920x1080p.

The difference is going to be minimal to the eye, if developers even reach that full potential. Look at these current generations…H4 won last year and is on a ā€œinferiorā€ system in terms of graphics.

To be honest Halo 4 isn’t and wasn’t the best looking game last year.

You’ll see a difference and we might see games having to sacrifice FPS in order to be better looking on Xbox One.

Also keep in mind that it took years before developers figured out how to maximize the consoles powers.

I don’t really care about the resolution, it will look great either way, Halo 4 looks great on the 360 so this should look much better on the XB1. It will probably be native 1600x900.

If that’s the case then why is Forza 5 native 1080p?
I don’t think the XB1 will have many games on 1080p though, probably 900p for most.

On consoles, it probably was, of course not when compared to some PC games but Halo 4 still looks amazing considering its running on such an outdated hardware.

Edit: Take a look at this article.

I wonder where did they get the 1080p from? I know that it will be at 60fps but I don’t remember 343i ever confirming 1080p, 60fps is good enough for me.

Sorry to break this to you… But Forza and a few other games are confirmed 1080p native.

The reason Ryse and some other game are using a small frame buffer is because it is easier to fit a 900p or lower framebuffer into the console’s high speed ESRAM.

Most of the early games, especially third party ones, haven’t had the time or final tools to make full use of the features of Xbox One - such as display planes, ESRAM and the Move Engines.

There is NO intrinsic limitation on resolution on Xbox One, beyond titles making the design choices which best fit their needs.

Please check your ā€˜facts’ before you come on the web spouting nonsense.

Anyway, Grandma doesn’t want PlayStation - she wants Xbox One!

I watched a side by side comparison of the XBOX One’s and PS4’s graphics for Battlefield 4. There was no difference, PS4 had better motion blur and dampening, but the XBOX had superior lighting and effects. But there was litterally almost no difference, you would really have to fixate on it to notice the differences honestly.

That’s correct mate. The X1 is even able to support native or upscaled 4K as well. The games set whatever output they want. Here’s hoping Halo can hit 1080p!

Where does it say that? Everything I’ve read said Xbox One is native 1080p.

Haha! That is one awesome grandma!
