Graduate Achievement Issue

In Halo 3 (Xbox 360), there’s an achievement called Graduate that’s awarded for either: A). Completing ten matchmaking games, or B). Obtaining five experience. The player also receives a medal on their service record, as well as the ODST helmet, upon unlocking it.

It’s my understanding that this game has some bugged achievements, so is this one of them? I have the ten matches and medal, but no achievement or helmet. Will getting the five experience help?
