Isn’t the AMD HD 6950 a full DX11 GPU?
I was able to install Halo 5 forge but I cannot run it as it says my GPU is not supported. When I check the requirements everything is ok except it says my GPU is not DX11 feature level supported which doesn’t make sense?

Hey juggernauts, have you checked out the support page for Halo 5 Forge? It gives you some steps you can run through to check out your system.

Not to be rude, but that page doesn’t help with what you do after you find out that your GPU can in fact, use Direct X12. It doesn’t say what to do after you discover that little tidbit.
EDIT:
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-released-list-of-compatible-directx-12-cards,3.html
I am sorry but the AMD 6000 series does not seem to be true DX12 support, if at all. It seems 7000 is the cut off.
To clarify, it means DX12 support, I am not sure why Microsoft keeps putting “Feature Level 11” because this is inaccurate.
Please run DxDiag -> Display Tab -> Direct3D DDI and Features Level.
To my knowledge you need DDI 12 and Features Level 12_0
If you have not updated your graphics card drivers, please do so. If this does not fix it, you may need a new graphics card as many older cards do not support DX12 features fully or at all.
If anyone is looking into a solid new card that will support this game, I have linked an AMD and Nvidia equivalent below. These perform around the same, near the level of last year’s Nvidia GTX980 which was very high-end. You may see the GTX1060 be at a higher price such as 300+ USD, this is due to high demand. I would wait until you find one for 250-270.

So, my DxDiag says this. Does this mean i’m out of luck then? Because this card is supposed to support DX12, it straight up says so on the Nvidia site.

Yes, I am sorry. I believe the GTX650 is based on Fermi Chipset. I was on a GTX460 which is Fermi as well, up to a week or so ago and sadly despite their promises, it does not support DX12.
They may update the GTX650 to DX12 someday but please do not hold your breath, we both know how companies can be. Your best bet would be to pick up a GTX900 or GTX1000 series card if you’d prefer to stay on Nvidia hardware. Personally I’d grab the GTX1060 as its very powerful, small, and fairly cheap.

But that doesn’t make sense.
It says Direct X12 is supported on the 650 TI right here. Plus the minimum requirements for Halo has this specific GPU as the minimum requirement. Something is wrong here.
Just typical I suppose. Thanks for the help.
Edit: The 650 TI is actually based off the Kepler chipset.

In all transparency I am not a professional in any form of PC or IT market so my knowledge only goes so far, I apologize if I get anything incorrect. I know about that list and found my GTX 460 on it, but despite their promises of “soon” for a year or so, its now the end of 2016 and it still has nothing. I don’t work for Nvidia so I can’t promise any kind of time-frame, I’d say the latest might be like, early/mid 2017 for DX12 support. Its honestly disappointing how they’ve handled it. It seems that our older cards are a lesser priority for them. All I can suggest to you is to update your Nvidia drivers if you haven’t recently and if you wish to stay on the 650Ti, to keep waiting until they finally release support for DX12. But all in all, this is a big maybe. They might, they might not. You never know with big companies like Nvidia

That’s what I get for getting my hopes up. Plus I don’t have enough money to upgrade nor with my PC am I in the best position to do so (Alienware X51, you see). So, in the long run i’m screwed entirely. Thanks for the help.

So, not to bump this thread but something strange happened. I was talking to someone who had the same GPU as me, and he was able to play. I got him to take a screenshot of his DxDiag and it didn’t list feature level 12…yet he was able to play. It also gives him a checkmark in the Windows Store where it says “Direct X Feature Level 11” whereas I get an X. Something bizzare is going on. I’m still low on hope, but this brings in new possibilities.

I did see someone on a GTX660 mention they updated their drivers and was able to play. Its worth giving a shot.

My drivers are updated. Also yes i’m on Anniversary. I’m beggining to narrow down the issue and I have reason to believe that the issue is indeed with Direct X except that mine is corrupted somehow. My Direct 3d DDI is 11.4 while the person who was using the same card as me’s is 12.
I’m having trouble figuring out how to uninstall and reinstall it.

Just so you know. DirectX feature level 11 is indeed directx 12 but on older DirectX 11 cards. In order to have feature level 12 and Direct 3d DDI to show 12 you need a 10 series card. Feature level 11 is the closest that you can get to DirectX 12 on a previously designed for DirectX 11 card. And quite frankly we are lucky that we can play games designed for directX 12 with dx11 cards because normally you would have to upgrade to a new series of cards in order to take advantage of a new API.
In your case I noticed that you have a 650ti 1gb card. I have a feeling that although you have feature level 11 listed in dxdiag you do not have full dx12 listed under Direct 3d DDI because I have a feeling that 1gb cards were not updated via drivers to handle dx11 feature level 11 under the directx12 api. Check with your friend that is able to play it because he has full feature level 11 and see if his 650ti is a 2gb card. Here is a screenshot of how it looks for me. I have a GTX 760 2gb and it was previously a dx11 card.

Your best bet would be to pick up a GTX900 or GTX1000 series card if you’d prefer to stay on Nvidia hardware. Personally I’d grab the GTX1060 as its very powerful, small, and fairly cheap.

I actually have the 2GB card. After that screenshot I posted earlier, I swapped with my brother who had a 2GB one, and yes my friend has a 2GB one.
I’m 90% positive my Direct X is corrupted and I NEED to know how to reinstall it. Google is somehow very unhelpful with this.

So adding to this, it turns out there’s no hope for me whatsoever. The person who had the same card as me had a 650 Ti BOOST and not just a 650 Ti. I’ve been sitting here this whole weekend wasting time on a lost cause. This is after clean installing windows too -_-
So is my AMD HD 6950 2GB supported or not?
I am not getting a clear answer so far.
Most likely it may be too old for AMD to effectively implement feature level 11 support however you should look up some news articles to see if there is a list of older GPU’s from AMD that may have been given support. Otherwise you are going to have to get a R9 series card or RX series card. The RX 480 would work pretty well and won’t totally break the bank.
My intel hd 520 is supported but some times the character you are playing freezes, just the character every thing else like mini map indicators work. Is any one playing with the surface pro 4(i5,8gb ram)?
