GPU Fans On 100%?

I was playing and then all of a sudden the screen turned off and there was no display detected from my gpu and I took off my headphones and the gpu put itself on full blast even though it was at 32C when I put the fans back at 50%? I have an EVGA RTX 2070 FTW3. Is anyone else having this issue where the game puts your gpu fans all the way up at max RPM?

Hi, same is happening to me. Are you still experiencing that? I couldn’t find anyone else having same problem. I have a Zotac RTX 2070 super Twin.

Did the fans max out before or after your screen went black?

In my case, it was almost at the same time. I guess that the fans maxed out first and then the GPU stopped giving video

32 C sounds unreasonably low. Almost makes me think your temps aren’t reading correctly unless you’ve got some crazy set up.

Assuming the temps are correct, it sounds like some sort of safeguard is kicking in. At least, if I was to design a safeguard to prevent damage I would make it stop processing video and blast the fans. I don’t think there is anything like that in the drivers though. Do you have any additional nvidia software installed? Or any software that can affect the GPU utilization? If so I would try uninstalling it and see what happens.

On 03/29/20 issue still happening. I don’t have any weird software installed, and I have the latest game update and nvidia drivers. This error usually happens when I try to access the Options menu and change anything (event not graphics related settings).

I just installed MCC and am having the fans revving all the way up for no apparent reason while in the options menu when hitting ESC. Is there a work around that Im missing? using an EVGA 3080 FTW3

Came here looking to see if anyone else was having this issue. A little relieved to see I’m not the only one.

For me this happens most frequently when I hit ESC to the menu while playing, usually if there’s a lot of activity going on. Screen goes black, graphics card fans go to 100% and I have to manually shut off my PC.

I’m running an EVGA 3090 FTW3 graphics card.

This has happened both while playing Halo: CE Anniversary AND Halo 2 Anniversary.
