Well ive seen where people argued that Halo had to change with the market to keep up. Yeah um thats wrong. If halo would’ve stayed the same as 3 or 2 it would sell just as many copies and last just as long if not longer. People say ohh but cod doesnt change do you wana be like cod. lol lets be honest halo didnt need a change it wouldve sold games still. besides reach sucked because of change change isnt always good.
I see no point in this thread
dawg…
Well the netcode was an improvment. Halo 3 had the worst netcode ever; big host advantage, people eating all your shots, etc. Hitscan BR ftw.
Im not talking about that stuff. those changes are fine.
If I was to buy Halo 3 instead of Halo 4 I’d be playing COD after I’m done with campaign and a large majority would probably follow suit.
Proof please.
lol ok thats why more people were on 3 than reach tonight…
> lol ok thats why more people were on 3 than reach tonight…
You know the Halo 3 population counter is cumulative over 24 hours and not an accurate, current population counter like Reach’s, right?
> Well ive seen where people argued that Halo had to change with the market to keep up.
Halo doesn’t change to “keep up” with the market, I believe it’s more a matter of evolving the franchise instead of keeping the same product year after year.
> Yeah um thats wrong. If halo would’ve stayed the same as 3 or 2 it would sell just as many copies and last just as long if not longer.
Not necessarily, seeing that if Halo stayed the same we’d be buying the same game over and over again. It would lose its luster quicker and the product would be become stale.
> People say ohh but cod doesnt change do you wana be like cod. lol lets be honest halo didnt need a change it wouldve sold games still.
Halo and CoD will sell games simply because they have “Halo” or “Call of Duty” in the title, however they won’t keep a steadily or increasing player-base if it’s the same stale, unchanging product.
> besides reach sucked because of change change isnt always good.
Reach had its problems, but I wouldn’t go as far to say Reach “sucked”, and change isn’t necessarily bad. I prefer to hold my judgment until I’ve had a chance to actually play the game.

ok it doesn’t have to evolve. people didn’t get tired of cod lets face it only people that dont like it are haters (im a hater btw). halo had the perfect formula it need no change add new stuff but nothing like amour abilities and specialization’s… Unchanging blah blah dude halo was perfect and reach truly sucked im glad ur blind enough to not see that.

I agree, somewhat, i think there should of been some adaption, but not as drastic as reach
I saw the word callout and instantly thought of yelling and screaming for the rocket launcher :P.
Oh well, on to the next thread!

Yeah thats kinda what i mean.
Would it have sold just as many copies? Probably. It’s got the Halo name on it which guarantees sales. But here’s the thing. If they did release it like that, the next game will sell a lot less because not everyone wants to play the same thing which just leads to a bad reputation.

I’d strongly disagree that I’m the blind one in this situation.
The changes that Bungie made to Halo with Reach weren’t implemented correctly, first of all. And secondly, with today’s new, and continuously evolving, flashy mechanics for flashy games like Crysis 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 and so on, Halo’s simple run and gun play style would be chewed up and spit out by today’s market, and eventually be cast out like a leper. It would get dull and boring.
Don’t you think it would get boring, playing the same thing for more than ten years?
It wouldn’t die instantly, but in the end, maybe even six more years later, it surely would die. Considering that it stayed the same. Good ideas don’t last an eternity.

no people would still buy it dude. im not saying dont make changes just not stuff like this… halo 3 made chnages that didnt change halo if you get what im saying it can be done halo is not the same.
