Got matched with 9! first-timers as plat 5

I just had a game in Team Arena where i got matched up with 9, yes 9 players, who had that game as their first ever team arena game. Maybe not that weird, but since i had about 350 completed games and was at rank platinum 5 at the time, something seems very off with the matchmaking system.

Heres the link to the match report:

I dont really mind, as that game was pretty even skill level wise, but ive had multiple games where almost the same thing happens but there are some people barely understanding how to move their character.

How is this even possible? Is the game really expecting you to be at plat 5 skill level in your very first game? The matchmaking should pair you woth equally skilled players, and since csr is a measure of that, you should get matched with players atleadt close to your rank. And honestly, id rather the game took 30s to find players rather than the extremely short time its taking since something like this game was even possible.

The placement matches put you against different levels of people to test how you perform against each level. For example In team swat I was playing gold players at first then by my 6th match all teams where onyx.

Yes, i get that. When you win placement matches you will face thougher opponents, and when you lose you will face easier.

What im questioning is the fact that apparently plat 5 is the entry level, since all 9 of them were in their first game. And also, why would you put 9 completely untested players together to evaluate their strength when you then basically have no parameters to compare to.

Here’s a Team Arena game I had the other day. It was during prime time and matched within seconds:

Diamond 4
Diamond 3
Platinum 5
Gold 4

vs.

Platinum 3
Platinum 1
Platinum 1
Gold 4

Not your specific issue, but I question the matchmaking system. Doesn’t make any sense to me.
