Since Palmer was such a let down. I was thinking a new character to fit her role or Johnsons would be a character like the Hound from Game of Thrones. A dirty badass that thinks every one else is useless meatsacks. Of coarse he couldn’t use the hound’s potty mouth, but he could say things like “you die like a grunt” or “shut your grunt mouth or I’ll shut it for you.” I think they already had a guy with face scarring in the books. Was it Bryne in Contact Harvest? I can’t say this would add much to the plot but it might be more fun to play.
I mean, im not certain if it could work but im not exactly against the idea either.
Though I would prefer that there weren’t a profanity filter included. Maybe not have exactly mentally unstable character for I would also think that there would be some standards for futuristic military but perhaps just some badmouthing to a degree.
It’s just something that has been missing from newer installments in the Halo franchise.

I dont exactly seeing that going over well since alot of people got upset over palmers “i thought you’d be taller” line. i can only imagine the reaction to someone who literally berates you the whole game while playing as chief lol. Personally I dont mind though.

This exactly. People would lose their minds if someone was openly abrasive and antagonistic like that. I also don’t think it’s really necessary.
Maybe it could be pulled off, but people in the Halo community need to stop pushing the idea of role-filling in my opinion (especially in regard to Johnson). What I mean by that is that so many people here would say that Palmer failed because she didn’t fill Johnson’s role, or that his role could be filled with similar characters to him. I think that no, Palmer failed because she was a poor character who was an unlikable character, and that no, we don’t really need a Johnson-esque character. There are different characters we can add in instead, like the pilot from the trailer, who clearly isn’t designed for role-filling.
Let Johnson rest. It doesn’t mean we can’t have another character like him, but that it won’t fix everything or even a lot. This series has to evolve past him, and possibly past his role altogether (as in his likeness, not his role as a Sergeant or leader). With this sentiment, Chief’s eventual death could be a total nightmare if 343 decides to carry the series past it.
Palmer I doubt will be going anywhere. And for someone to replace her, because I do think she may just be a side character like she sort of was in 5, no one. No one should have to fill that role in the first place. Palmer never took over Johnsons and even vice versa. If there is another person to be in that boat, the closest, would be the next AI Chief has.
