Anyone who has read the books will know that they are a lot dark in terms of gore. I dont think that the gore level of the Halo games should be altered permanently themselves, however; Does anybody think that there should be an option to turn the gore up in CAMPAIGN?
Im talking about exploding needles from the needler actually blowing off limbs; Bullets leaving gaping holes in which blood gushes out of; Exploding grenades creating a huge bloody mess etc.
I like Halo’s current level of Gore and think it should be left up to the people. If you like it as it is now, then cool, but if you want a feel closer to that of the books then you can activate ‘Gore Mode’/‘Realism Mode’ (stupid names I know.)
I feel that halo should have a bit more gore than it already does. But I dont really want all the dismembering and guts. I feel that there should be a bit more blood (halo ce) and it would be nice if the character model shows damage. Like if you are shot without shields you would see bloody patches where the impact was. Same with plasmaburns. And for getting hit with an explosive rocket could show that you armor is bent and scratched. Just some ideas. Maybe more blood splats and stuff. I think that the amount of gore was represented nicely in the Live action commercials
That what I was thinking. I think a bit more gore would suit this game better, as (to me) it seems to have a much more mysterious and eerie tone compared to the others.
The graphics also appear to be a lot gritter so I think it would fit well.
I think there should be more gore. I mean come on. Im pretty sure if your fighting a fearless and brutal alien empire then theres going to be more gore than there is in modern war. I think the flood shoulve been more gorey to add the fear of a deadly alien parasite.
Why would anybody want more gore? Do they like looking at people suffer even more or something? I play Halo for it’s story, gameplay, how fun it is and much more. Although it wouldn’t really bother me if there was more gore, I’d prefer the game to be more friendly and keep that >16 age rating.
More gore would ruin the game, making it so over-the-top like the Gears of War series. The amount of gore now is a nice touch, it seems… realistic (for lack of a better word), in the context of the game, if we had limbs flying off it would just look… stupid. Not to mention disgusting.
More gore would be great but I think the reason dismemberment is not included is due to performance issues rather than censoring players from what happens when a rocket collides with an organ filled skin sack.

Halo has had progressively less and less gore or even “effects”, realism?
The level of gore a modern Halo (reach) offers is child friendly, not realistic. Halo CE got it right, when you sprayed hot lead into someone they would bleed, same thing if you punched them with enough force to wreck a vehicle.
Halo needs to return to the original gore, more blood and realism, this is a game rather 15+ and in war, someones got to bleed. No need to go “over the top” like Gears where the gore is more humoristic then realistic, no limbs flying around, but a little something at least. I don’t know if Bungie wanted to cater to the young kids that bought the game (and nowadays plays CoD), or if they just wanted to save resources, but either or, Halo needs a fair amount of gore to be a serious FPS and not “master chief in rainbow land”.
War, genocide and mass murder, it’s all ok as long as no one bleeds? really?
Halo isn’t really well known for gore, it’s more about solid gameplay and story. Yes the books can be fairly violent but the game is also pretty graphic, I know that watching someone get slowly infected by the flood makes me a bit queasy. But as for like blood and guts, I don’t think Halo was ever really meant for violence on that level.
