First off, I’m only posting this because I read that theory about the ancient evil thread and the canonical smears(transition book-game) a minute ago.
Alright, anyways, in several of the books, the gore level in Halo books are at like a 9, whereas in-game Halo is at a 5. Do you think that the gore should match canon? Personally, I like gory games, so it mould be a plus for me.
I think the main reason why the gore in the games is so different from the books is due to balancing and the ESRB rating. Banshee cannons would destroy anyone and their home any day.
> I think halo games have enough gore. no need to change it.
Agreed.
And it would most likely take a lot of power from the Xbox as well seeing limbs and guts flying around splattering the environment. Something I don’t think we can afford at the moment.
Fighting as Spartans, you won’t see too much outside of plasma burns and rocket 'splosions. There was a point in time that I wanted as much gore as Gears, but I’ve grown tired of it.
I’m really happy with the disintegration effect, though. Really fits Halo
Gore doesn’t really fit the style of Halo, IMO anyway. Limbs and blood and chunks of liver aren’t exactly needed. The books are a lot more realistic (In terms of the halo universe). Leave the gore to them. Besides, a plasma bolt from a standard plasma rifle would probably melt off someone’s entire arm. It’s just not proportionate in the balance.

I would however, love a skull that can turn on a Gears of war level of gore. I think it would be hilarious to see a grunt’s skull explode as you melee it, or seeing chunks of elite go in different directions after you stick them with plasma grenades. The weapons are very diverse and could keep a good variety of gory outcomes.
I too love the disintegration effect. It’s very cool.
I was watching some gameplay on Haven and one play got shot in the head with a battle rifle. Blood was splattered all over the wall behind him. The shooter then went about his business, died then returned to the same spot a few minutes later and the blood was still there. Looked pretty awesome. I think its enough. Dismembermentwouldnt suit halo.
