How autocomplete works:

Where the predictions come from

As you type, autocomplete predicts and displays queries to choose from. The search queries that you see as part of autocomplete are a reflection of the search activity of all web users and the content of web pages indexed by Google.

Nostalgia everywhere.

Sure, other people searched those things but what’s displayed is based heavily on your search history and pages you visit that has Google Analytics (a lot of sites).

If I searched frequently for positive Halo related things and visited threads praising 343i and Halo 4, the autocomplete suggestions will be filled with queries such as “Halo 4 is the best game ever.”

Lol

What happens if you type in Halo Reach?

> Sure, other people searched those things but what’s displayed is based heavily on your search history.

Nope. Apart from the Google+ profiles that may appear, all of the predicted queries that are shown in the drop-down list have been typed previously by Google users or appear on the web.

That’s not true at all.

I didn’t say they came with queries out of thin air. There are tons of users who have searched for positive Halo 4 queries. They choose which to display based on keywords in the query.

Here’s what it shows up for me. (See the last suggestion?)

Funny, when I type in Halo 3 is, it comes up with “Halo 3 is dead.” I still get “Halo 4 is bad,” though.

I’m not getting any of that…?
Halo 4 Google search.
Halo Reach Google search.
Halo 3 Google search.

Yes, they do. The queries are predicting what you are going to write, based on search activity.

I started the sentences with the exact same keywords and the queries (Opinions) varied extremely from game to game. Although this is does not give an exactly representation of what the population like, it’s the best we can get as the Halo Community.

> Halo 3 Google search.

You have to lead your sentence. The combination of your primary text decides what comes later based on what has been typed before by Google Users.

However, to write “X is better than X game” doesn’t count as you aren’t letting the search box, open up for other answers.
