Was just about to kick off a game of BTB and it was 6 vs 6 in voting. Halo 4 vs Halo 2A. I wanted to play the Halo 4 option to be honest but it went to Halo 2A. Okay fine. Cool. Immediately reset cause all the people that voted for Halo 4 quit. Waaahhhhhh! You’d rather sit in a lobby… Again??? Gears 3 had it perfect. Just rotated map after map. Voting is the worst. Variety is completely ruined. So what if you don’t like a map… Maybe if you try it more than once you’ll start to love it. Same reason why 20 year old adults only eat mac and cheese and don’t want to try a steak. Cut that option and they grow.
See ya later, brats. Enjoy that mac and cheese.
They really need to split up the BTB playlist into 2 or 3 playlists.
I hate to take a bias but Halo 4 players seem to be the worst offenders.
Halo Reach never really had this problem and the single game playlists don’t seem to either. It’s more to do with the game rather than map/mode.
I myself have quit Halo 4 on a couple of occasions and I’m not too keen on Halo 2A either.
Are you suggesting that 343i remove voting for Halo 5, for MCC, or for both? If your larger concern is with the MCC, I can move this thread over to that section for you.
Halo 5. The forums said the voting system is gone for halo 5. Right? I was voicing my support in that decision, DavidJ. If I’m wrong let me know.
Thanks man.
Cant wait a it for this game. Halo 5 beta was incredible.
SnuggleVixen,
i totally hear ya. I’m not for or against anything. But I’ve been put into maps and modes I didn’t want to be in and had a blast which changed my opinion. One or two bad experiences shouldn’t make a person disregard that map/mode completely. So I’m with a ya. I’m a rare bird in that I like halo 4 as much as all the other halos. I think they are all great. I would prefer to not play halo 2 classic though. :). We got anniversary soooo… That’s all.

I enjoy Mac and Cheese. The question what is your problem with Mac and Cheese.
OT: I agree that the voting system can be annoying. Gears did do a good job of rotating maps, but when a map came up people didn’t want they would just leave. So you’ll be sitting in the lobby regardless if people don’t want to play the map. Eventually you’ll get into the game, but people will still back out when they see it’s something they don’t want. And as far as playing on maps multiple times until you learn to like them… Well some maps are just bad and probably shouldn’t be played.
I’m down for rotating maps instead of voting, doesn’t really bother me. But that doesn’t mean issues won’t occur.

I hate to mention this game but the voting system in CoD isn’t bad
You can vote for one of the two maps or a random map
Rarely do you see anyone leave
I’m glad voting is gone. It’s been a frustrating ordeal for a while now.
This goes hand in hand with matchmaking efficiency and lobby time. One reason players want a say in map choice is the exceptionally long between-game lobby times that has plagued Halo games. Sadly this results in casuals voting for slayer on the token “big grassy map” every time. Streamlining the lobbies and nerfing the voting system will result in better matchmaking.
Here’s hoping.
No more going to the exact same map five times in a row (minimum), and no more having half the players quit when a different map is selected.
SaintCT,
I agree 100% with everything you said. It won’t fix everything but nothing will really. Some maps aren’t great. Sure. But this can filter the problems out a bit more. If you give the player too much choice then it typically ends with Avalanche Halo 3 or else quitting. If people just want to play the game they won’t / shouldn’t get bent out of shape over a map. It’s over in 8-10 minutes. Not a big deal. And maybe in the crappy map they got better with the BR or tossed a great plasma. Who knows? But quitting to just sit in a lobby to get the same thing again, ehhhh… Sounds like a rich man, poor man thing to me. Quitting = wasting time. And that time is spent wasting… more time. So who’s losing here? (Not directed at you, just overall opinion).
And mac and cheese is good! Just prefer that Omaha steak.
I hate to be that guy, but could someone direct me to the posts about H5’s voting system (or lack of one)? I’d like to know how it will work.
I’m with ya man. I thought the forums debunked this. Maybe I’m wrong, hope not.
The Halo 5 multiplayer just needs a veto system in place, and all will be good. Before a game starts you are given two options:
- Select the gametype and map you are given, or… - Select the veto option, in which case you are randomly given a different map and possibly gametype

I don’t have a link but Halo 5 has no voting what so ever, you pick a playlist and the map and gametype will be chosen for you.

I didn’t know that
Hey that’s pretty cool
Forces you to love a map you may not like
Yay if this is true!! Hated voting since reach.

Better than playing any of the lockout maps or avalanche for thousand times. Plus map rotation is always good to have, keeps the game fresh. I would not mind a veto system but does not really matter to me.
Also I have no Idea if you are being sarcastic or not, hard to tell over the internet.

So glad they’ve done this. I’ve never understood why people insist on voting for the same maps over and over. It gets very tiring. Now if only they’d add this to MCC.

I failed at making a link…
This Q&A asked about map voting quoted below, and at least it has been confirmed no voting in warzone. I do hope this applies to all game types like many are believing. The voting system is probably the biggest reason I have given up playing the MCC. I like to try new game types, and maps, but everyone seems to always vote the same things over and over again.

> Each playlist will rotate through a variety of maps – there won’t be a vote or veto system used.
