Good news for Conservative Halo players (aka Sprint/AA/Bloom/Recoil/Rank haters.) This comes straight from the 3.07.12 bulletin. link
Is there going to be a nice balance of playlists in Halo 4, like ranked and social? –A Critical H1T
“We aren’t going to go into detail about matchmaking systems or playlists for a little while, but there will definitely be options for traditional Halo fans to enjoy, and some very new experiences that we’re pretty excited about. Our playlists will be tightly focused, consistent, and properly polished. This will be especially evident at launch, but like with prior Halo games, these playlists will be organic and will evolve, but sensibly and appropriately.” -Frank O’Connor
This is proof that there will be “traditional” playlists that utilize the gameplay elements from the original Trilogy. This was done with the Anniversary playlists.
Now since there will be an option for these players with these tastes, this means that they can stop it with the “No Sprint/Recoil/AAs” threads. If you’re not going to play on the playlists with those features, then why complain about them? It would be like if I were to complain about the CQC armor. I don’t like it, so I don’t wear it.

someone’s late to the party. The truth is that first of all, we want a better overall game in ALL playlists. Though we will have to settle for this “classic” playlists, there is basically no info on these. Besides that all the maps are most likely designed with sprint in mind meaning a lesser experience for players that don’t want sprint. We don’t know how many classic playlists there will be, whether or not theyll have sprint. But yes, give us 5 or 6 classic playlists, and you can call us (well me at least) happy.
Though I doubt this will quell the haters, this will certainly change their topics.
On topic, this is good to hear. Competitive and casuals can now get along by not playing one another once again.

You do realise that “your personal preference” and “better” mean different things, right?

Just also remember that you can’t make everybody happy. So don’t go hating 343i if you don’t get exactly what you want. There are some people who play only certain playlists. I never play SWAT or MLG. You don’t see me saying “there needs to be Sprint in all playlists!”

I realise that some people may not agree, but i think it will make the game more enjoyable for anyone, but lets agree to disagree.
MR ACTG, I know, but I think its fair for the competitive community to get something like 5 or 6 playlists. I think the most hardcore fans definitely deserve this kind of respect. Reach has about 20 so you guys will still have enough choice. And even though some people even in the competetive community disagree on some issues, the basic concept for these playlists are very easy.

So you are saying that you prefer a rubbish end product? What moronic statement is that?
That is not ‘personal preference’. It is hardly a minority opinion that people want a ‘better’ game than those previous. That’s like being given the offer of a free holiday or spending a week in prison, it may be personal preference at the end of it, but it is fairly unanimous still.
What is the point of you commenting on that? None of the guys comments were particularly controversial in the first place.

It’s hard to stay on topic if we can’t even read it. I don’t understand why you even take the time to change the color.

A bit harsh?

What’s the point of changing the color if you are not:
A. Linking
B. Emphasizing a point
or
C. Separating topics
It’s just annoying. It’s nothing personal, but I can’t take any posts seriously if they are in color.

No, I’m saying different people prefer different styles of play. “Better”, therefore, is subjective to the individual. That you (speaking generally here) consider playstyle A preferable to playstyle B doesn’t mean A is overall better, it simply means that you think it’s better, others might have completely the opposite opinion. Which is why it’s good to have a variety of playlists.
Moments like these make me wonder if this forum needs an aptitude test. What I said was pretty basic English/psychology, that you could miss the mark so badly is frankly staggering.

No he never said that at all…?
Your perceived ‘majority’ is more like a half than anything else.
Ive played this game since the launch of Halo 1, and i dont want a carbon copy of Halo 3. I have Halo 3 already, i can put that in the disc tray now and play it. Come the holidays of this year, i want a new game.
Im paying money for a product that i expect to have new features, but still have its core values.

Gives cookie
I gave up CoD after CoD4:MW after seeing that the next game was going to be almost the same. While some of the changes will ALWAYS be controversial, and some of them may end up being mistakes in the long run (AA’s could have been done a bit better, for example). That said, the series still needs to move forward.
While I agree that having a classic section is a good idea in terms of appeasing groups, i think that it should be unranked, forcing players to play the new version if they want to have ranked progression. If these players always play “classic” games, they will never have to adapt along with the series, so there will ALWAYS have to be a classic playlist. the community will remain split forever.
