Now obviously not much is revealed momentarily about Halo Infinite’s campaign, but I believe that with a good intro cinematic that connects to the plot and story well enough, it could really help boost the story into becoming something great. Halo 4 and 5 had intro cinematics that gave cool ideas relating to Halsey (as they seemed centered around her) but they weren’t fully explored and haven’t been seen in the stories aside from the intros.
Main Idea: The intro cinematics should start off right where Halo 5 ended and catch the player up to speed on what has already happened (INCLUDING connecting Halo 4 and 5’s stories so there aren’t as big of plot holes to be filled later in the game, Halo 4 and 5 had their flaws in their stories but they can’t just be abandoned). I really want Halo: Infinite to focus on a story that continues the Master Chief’s character arc from the other two games before Infinite and not have it be almost completely unrelated just as Halo 5 seemed to be from Halo 4.
But if a good intro cinematic is made that can give good information without character’s just spitting exposition to blatantly tell the player what’s happening in the story, then it could be very good and gripping. Halo 2’s intro did this very well, sharing two sides of a story that might seem complex, but was given to the player in a very simple way. Halo 5 had way too much exposition during the campaign that didn’t flesh out any of the new characters that were stating the exposition, which brought other problems to the table. This new intro cinematic could also catch the player up with critical information that might be in the other halo books or animations or something (which shouldn’t be so, the main storyline should be explained in the game without forcing the audience to go to expanded material to understand it).
Anyways, share your thoughts on the idea and comment what good ideas you think 343i and the writing team should employ into the campaign of the next epic Halo game!
