[I’ve tried a bunch of different intros, so I’m just opening cold:]
Good warthog drivers aren’t getting rewarded properly. It may be a glitch, but not even wheelman’s counter towards assists and therefore you can enable your gunners to get 40 kills in a game; your gunner even got hard target in the process you saved them so many times, but at the end of the match, you’ve only got about 4 kills for splatters and 3 assists. Driver must unite and right this wrong!
Honestly though, it would be great to see a few new/returning medals too:
Wheelman spree\Road Hog\Road Rage - This was already in Halo Reach and it would be great to see return so that your assist sprees becomes just as apparent the other top contributors and earning these will also boost your XP/RP earnings to match your contribution. - [Name in-the-works] - If you can save your gunner and/or passenger 3-5 times in their one life like every good driver does, you should be rewarded. I’ve had a few games where I saved my first gunner 5 times, the next one 3 times and the last one twice (he wasn’t the best shot sadly so he took most of the heat) all with the same warthog. Also, I can’t think of any reason why wheelmen don’t count as assists as that would help alot right off the bat.
What are ya’ll’s thoughts? Got any names for these medals or maybe some new ones? Or perhaps some suggestions to a better mechanic overall for it? Spill it all below along with any epic warthog spree stories you have to share.

Medals are just a bonus. I’d like some XP and RP for it though.
But yes, being the wheel man is a ton of fun either way. I’ll still drive whether or not I get any tangible reward towards it or not (granted your indirectly rewarded by victory of your driving REALLY contributed, but that’s another story for another time)
A bit more recognition would be great, sucks to be considered as ‘‘not helpfull’’ by teamates because all they see is my low kill count without realising I’ve been driving the whole game in that stolen ONI warthog which led us to victory

I am a bit inclined on both sides right now. I play games for fun, if I am having fun roaring the hog around and not getting medals… i am all fine with that. Then looking at it from jetpower’s view I think they do need to add these medals. I mean it makes sense. They talk about balance… how is this balanced then? OP is right about it… we need to have more medals or atleast more point for the currently awared medals. And thanks for pointing out that sone of the past medals are missing because I didn’t notice it as I dont drive much.

I did something like this once and that was a blast
I would love to see 343 address this as well! Especially since Firefight is coming. We will have to see exactly what kind of rewards just being a warthog driver will give in a Firefight match. I plan on playing with my brother and we want to team up in hogs while playing FF. If the one who is driving barely gets proper credit points-wise, it’s going to be pretty disappointing not to mention pointless because it’s not promoting cooperative vehicle gameplay.
Bravo, if you happen to see this thread, would you mind sending it off to the multiplayer team? What’s wrong with rewarding all aspects of H5 gameplay?
A good driver protecting his gunner… and a good gunner, you can do some serious wrecking, especially with a rocket hog. 343 should give a little more credit for the driver other than just a wheelman commendation for how many kills the gunner got.
I don’t consider myself a good driver, never have but I completely agree. I used to fly falcons all the time in reach and know firsthand how valuabe someone driving the vehicle can be (The falcon is so easy to fly anyone can do it)
You have my support. If anything the driver should receive more praise than the gunner. A good hog driver that takes you in and out of danger (saving your life repeatedly), while providing better vantage points for accuracy, and taking you to key map points to help your team is rare to come by. They should receive praise, points, and experience points for their efforts.

I completely agree, first and foremost they need to have wheelman medals count as assists. The Wheelman and Splatter spree medals returning would also be awesome. I like the idea of keeping your gunner alive leading to some sort of spree as well (as long as they don’t exit the vehicle obviously).
Agreed. I’ve had more fun just driving Hogs around in Halo games then just about anything else and only a few games have rewarded my peddle to the metal attitude and quick driving skills properly.
Ahh those glorious days back in Halo PC on Blood Gulch where I would drive for entire rounds, go through gunner after gunner and spin circles around the enemy base.

Good Points:
I’ve been the resident SC Driver since Ive joined it, if you need a good driver, you got me, sometimes I go for the flying high medals (Its so fun…) and some gungooses get us Rekt, but these medals would be amazing, I have driven a match, 0 deaths, last in the leader board, a couple boss takedowns, 4 Splatter (More if you count the idiots who run into your way last minute) and 50 Assists, I love driving, dont get me wrong, I practice on a forge court I made. At least 7 Times a day.
Medal Names:Insurance- Protect your car for 5 kills
Used Car Salesman- Ride a nearly destroyed vehicle for 3 kills
New Rims?- Get 15 Splatters in a row
Windshield Cracker- Get 10 Splatters in a row
Paint Scratcher- Get 5 Splatters
Angry Ex (My Favorite)- Floor at top Speed in a Hog or Goose and get 5 Kills.
And my best warthog story is on battle of noctus, we were down 50 points 950 to 1000, and I ran my hog into warden and got the kill and won the game, of course with some help from my guys in the hog with me.
