Good game, but some strong MM flaws

Reach is a great game: Campaign is good, forge is great, but I’ve noticed alot of abuses in most multiplayer playlists that drive me insane.

Team Slayer - Grenades, grenades, and more grenades
Team Swat - Used to be fun, but most people seem to sit in corners now
Team Snipers - Haven’t played it much at all, but from my experiences, people hide anywhere they can, which is kind of understandable, but it seems like it’s based on the first kills of the match, because from what I’ve seen, spawn killing is very common
Living Dead - Not any problems except the maps are terrible IMO
Invasion - People quit WAY too much
Super Slayer - Never bothered with it, but I’m sure it’s the same as Team Slayer
Team Objective - Barely played it at all, so idk about that
Rumble Pit - Tired of seeing parties of 4+ people teaming up on everyone else
Double Team - Nothing wrong, but I don’t care at all for this playlist
Big Team Battle - Not too bad, probably my favorite of all, but some of the maps are horrible and unbalanced, and Hemorrhage is involved in about 80% of the voting
Multi Team - It’s alright, just don’t understand why so many people act so arrogant on there, seems like a playist that is a slightly more competitive Action Sack
Arena - Basically Team Slayer
MLG - Never touched it, but hopefully I will soon xD
Grifball - Usually fun, but the betraying seriously gets old
Anniversary Classic - Been a while since I’ve played it so I don’t remember too well
Anniversary Firefight - Never touched it
Co-op Campaign - Never touched it
Score Attack - Never touched it
Firefight - Not motivated to play it after doubles was removed because there’s too many players IMO, was alot better when it was me and my friend only. Haven’t played in a while so I’m not sure if this was fixed, but the delay was the most annoying part in all of Reach

Now for some overall flaws.

The friendly fire needs turned OFF. It seems like whenever I pick up a power weapon, a whiny teammate that wanted it can just walk up and betray me, and I can’t do anything about it, but if I’m driving a wraith, and some troll sprints in front of it while I’m hitting the boost, I get instantly kicked.

Grenades are too powerful. My opinion, either lower the power of them or start us with 1 instead of 2.

Armor abilities are unbalanced. I can’t stand a game where I have to change my tactics just to compete because everybody else is using either armor lock or invisibility.

Most of the maps are either just dumb or extremely unbalanced IMO. Not a fan of most of the default maps except for Sword Base, Boneyard, Spire, and the original Forge World maps. Boardwalk is alright and I used to hate Reflection, but it seems alright now. I hate Countdown and Zealot is by far the worst map I’ve ever played in any game.

It is a great game but one of the biggest problems I have with that game is the maps. I feel like they could’ve done better and created more unique and interesting maps to play in instead of these “recycled” maps from the campaign. Some of them are great but the others are boring and overused. That’s why I prefer most of the anniversary maps and the dlc’s.

Just to say, the maps were actually designed for multiplayer first, then whipped into the Campaign.

I agree with the friendly fire being turned off, because of all the accidently betrayals with heavy weapons or vehicles get you booted, but when someone purposely betrays me I can’t boot them, and Team Swat needs Pinaccle PUT BACK IN.

You don’t like changing your tactics? To me nothing is more rewarding than being able to adapt to any given situation. After all, Variety is the spice of Life!

Honestly, I think Bungie did a terrific job at maintaining the multiplayer aspect of this game. I just think that the trade off to 343 kind of ruined it, especially since they’re working on Halo 4 right now, I still love this game though, and I feel your pain :frowning: now I just hope Halo 4 has better multiplayer.

There are some playlists with 1 grenade at spawn. I think that some of the Forge World maps could have been a bit better, though.

Welcome to Reach…

“Armor abilities are unbalanced. I can’t stand a game where I have to change my tactics just to compete because everybody else is using either armor lock or invisibility.”

You want everyone to change to suit you instead?

I thank the only problem with Reach was the maps that bungee got so damn lazy with that they literally just took chunks out of the campaign and used them a multiplayer maps (It worked in Firefight) , bloom on the DMR (I think it should be on the magnum to balance its rate of fire and on the sniper to balance its power) the double pummel is quite easily the cheapest thing ever. How the hell is a Spartan going to kill another FULLY ARMOURED SPARTAN in 2 punches? People say 3 but I think it should maybe be 3.5 - 4, because even inAnniversary it’s easy to get triple pummeled if you don’t have a Magnum
I just think that not only did they get lazy they didn’t think about if it wold work in the sandbox before they threw what they thought would benefit Matchmaking

This.

Reachs original maps are rubbish IMO, the DLC ones are sick but, unlike halo 3 in which loads of people got the dlc and there where loads of servers, reach has deleted them all. They shout of made aniversay include all the maps like ODST, that would of made more people but it and generally halo reach 10x better.

Hahaha, wow. That’s the first time I’ve seen someone try to say that.

Because its true. Proof: Ivory tower, provably designed for multiplayer…in 2004. Its a vital part of the campaign level Exodus, in the Sinoviet tower.

More proof: If they are all campaign maps first and multiplayer maps second, explain all the dead space and unused areas in the campaign versions of maps like Boardwark, Powerhouse, Countdown, Boneyard, Glacier etc pretty much all of them are full of unused areas. Explain why so many of them have specific entrance and exit doors which are sealed shut in multiplayer, but which are open in campaign to allow you to progress.

Its obvious they were designed for multiplayer first, and then worked into the campaign afterwards.

It’s not that I don’t like changing tactics, but I hate that I have to do what everybody else is doing just to compete, or it will be completely unbalanced

No, I want them to be less abusive. Invisibility lasts way too long, and armor lock is pretty abusive, but I can’t think of any changes that could be made without making it a really stupid ability

I forgot one thing, I think the DLC should now be free, or at least way cheaper. There is no more DLC playlists, so they are pretty much useless except for custom games

replies in red.

Completely forgot about that lol, not sure how i did, considering the fact that you’re completely right about the black screens.

I believe it was actually said by a Bungie dev in the Halo: Reach Legendary Dev Commentary as well, all the maps were designed for Campaign, then shoved into Campaign.

All Firefight maps were also taken from Campaign except Unearthed & Installation 04.
