Good, but too much for halo!

Overall gameplay feels great, I was amazed first time I entered a game, the fluidity and overall feels awesome, but there are few things that makes the game not as it should be… Yes I know, they tried to add few things, but sometimes, it’s better to have less than too much! Let me explain what I particularly disliked.
What I disliked

  • The energy sword : I know it’s not exactly an energy sword, but I think design should be reworked, and way to strong.

  • Thrusters : I don’t like them. as simply as that. we already have the sprint to help us getting faster. thrusters is something that should not be added to the final version of halo 5. I could consider them as armor abilities, which for me totally modified the halo gameplay.

  • Ground pound : This is what I’m talking about the “way too much”. this and the thrusters are totally ruining the gameplay. Air assassinations were just perfect, we did not need to add anything like the ground pound.

  • Smart scope : I REALLY LIKE the smartscope, but I think that scopes should not change that much a weapon accuracy, as for the assault rifle, the smart scope makes it a way too much powerful weapon for it’s kind. Finally, I should say the thrusters and the ground pound are totally ruining the gameplay. They should be removed right away as they should not be part of the halo universe. Except for these good job 343i I think halo 5 looks pretty good so far!

Why? explain your opinion.

i agree with most of what your saying but sprint really has to go the game needs to be at a halo pace and its not

From what I played everything works well. ground Pound probably takes the most skill. Not sure how it ruins gameplay. You cant just jump and GP. You need to be pretty high off the ground meaning you need to reach a high point on the map for it to even “activate”.

Thrusters are basically a side step. If you have a problem with that then you must have a problem with jumping too. Just a new movement option.

Overall Halo 5 is solid. I only see people complaining about what they dont like as opposed to REAL BALANCE ISSUES. H5’s new features feel balanced. For example: Thrusters have a 4 second cool down, you cant spam it. Smart Scope, accuracy boost and all, is balanced by descope. GP needs verticality AND charges. You get knocked out of sprint when running directly at someone(a nice touch) this balances Shoulder CHarge. Sprint is tied to Shields.

BALANCE IS KEY. NOSTALGIA IS BLINDING.

I understand, but it doesn’t feel like halo, it’s like if it was something they added just to make something new, idk I just don’t really like it…

& yeah, everyone is complaining, but I feel like halo 5 looks pretty nice so far!

The energy is sword is not the energy sword. It is the prophet’s bane. It’s different.
and…
‘‘thrusters and the ground pound are totally ruining the gameplay. They should be removed right away’’ I totally disagree with you. They are super well balanced. The ground pound is not overused and is very helpful when you need to kill someone camping in a corner

The game is perfect as it is. Simple as that.

I was under the impression that the sword you refer to is just a variation called prophets bane, and its supposed to be stronger. and its only available on the map Truth?

Thrusters aren’t to be used the same way sprint is, sprint for me is a traversal ability in the sense of moving around the map, in halo 4 i used thrusters to help out with strafing left right and stuff, i’d like it to stay, its adds more dynamic,

I haven’t tried ground pound but i think it can stay, just be nerfed a bit, perhaps only make it take shields.

Smartscope i love the look of :D, as for the accuracy thing, EVERYONE in the comunity has already moaned about this and i believe accuracy will be fixed for final release.

Thrusters and ground pound i don’t believe will go, only modified to suit. they can really add a new level of playing. Unless you can offer other ways we can make ourselves feel like a Spartan that isn’t just, jog, strafe, battle rifle only. that gets boring for me and repetitive, it was dynamic in its prime.

“Thrusters : I don’t like them. as simply as that. we already have the sprint to help us getting faster. thrusters is something that should not be added to the final version of halo 5. I could consider them as armor abilities, which for me totally modified the halo gameplay.”

Great idea, remove the mechanic that largely works in favour of the one that’s utterly and fundamentally broken.

My bad, I think I missed something with the ground pound thing or what, but I think it’s okay, but for the thrusters, I still don’t like them, every damn time you try to kill someone, they just jump away!

Everyones missing the point, these features are cool, thats why COD has almost identical side steps(thrusters) and clambering. But these features dont add to the HALO experience, they take away from it. The few people that actually like these features are the same people that though h4 was a good game (there were like 50,000 players on a week after launch). Halo 3 held millions of people for years, because it was simple but at the same time required great skill and strategy. The more “new features” the worse the halo game is. Simple as that.

I totally agree with that!

I can see the ground pound being used for more than just killing. Maybe you can use it to get out of a situation. Something that is funny to me is that they removed teleporters like 2 or three games ago and no one has demanded that teleporters be put back into the game. Classic Halo/Halo 2 had teleporters, but there is no outrage that they are gone.

It is strange that the games the people want back that were “perfect” are the old Halo CE/Halo 2 broken unbalanced train wrecks. You don’t want it back because it was perfect, you want it back because it was flawed and you knew how to exploit it.

HAHA so so true, with Yoink-y button glitch combos…

I find it crazy how folks forget that thrusters have been in the halo universe since the books, and since halo ce, though they didn’t have to the technology to introduce it until Halo 4. Everything always has to be ripped from CoD or too much for halo, lol.

Why does everyone bring up COD when they mention sliding, clambering and ground pound. Crysis 3 did all that and more a year prior to COD AW’s release. If we’re going to complain if something uses elements from other games than every FPS is a copy of Wolfenstein 3D. Any way the game looks fun and I can’t wait to play it some Sunday. Also super jealous of those who got in early.
