Good anniversary maps but....

Good anniversary maps but (except for small or indoor-style maps) none of the maps are good and roomy enough to have heavy tanks (Scorpions, Wraiths) and aircrafts (Banshees, Pelicans) included. The size of the maps are somewhat disappointing (Ridgeline and Breakneck) and lacking much room to use heavy tanks or aircraft for heavy actions. Riding the Banshee in Breakneck was difficult and limiting, and required lot of frequent maneuvering around to avoid hit inanimate objects, taking away a player’s concentration of finding and shooting down targets. A Pelican in it would have been pointless.

Breakneck should have been bigger and more roomy. It is about half the size of Hemorrhage, maybe more or less than Breakpoint. It is a great map, with so many places to hide. I just wish it would have been expanded to other areas around Breakneck, that would have been fun.

Ridgeline/Timberland should have been a bit more bigger, height-wise and length-wise. A little more than half the size of Hemorrhage. I can’t see a Banshee or a Scorpion/Wraith or a Revenant being used in this map for heavy action.

These maps are well designed but should have been bigger. I had hope that 343i would have put Boneyard and Hemorrhage to shame by producing a huge map or two and involving a lot of light, medium, and heavy actions. I also had hope for an Invasion-style map and new Forge World as well. I suppose that might be in the works coming for springtime?

If you’re a fan of heavy action carnage, you’re in for some disappointment from these maps.

Breakneck is Headlong correct?

It is the exact same as it was in Halo 2, so you knew it wouldn’t support it just like it didn’t in Halo 2, although the banshee’s controls are different in Reach, it should be easier to move.

Timberlands, in my opinion, is perfectly fine, it was scaled down 20% so it would still support smaller team games, not just Big Team Battle and works well by the looks of gameplay.

Yes, Breakneck is Headlong, thanks. When I played these maps last night, I see two different names for the same map depending on objective goals.

I’m a latecomer to the Halo games (since 2009), having never played Halo 2 MP when it came out. I did played Halo 2 MP briefly (in early 2010) before jumping to Halo 3 and Halo ODST for the MP, so I don’t remember the H2 maps that much.

I haven’t gotten a chance to play them yet (that will happen tonight) but I agree that Headlong/Breakneck isn’t supposed to have heavy machinery. There are big guns in it, but that was it. 2 warthogs and a banshee. It was a great map for capture the flag and team-based games because it was a big enough map and not a ton of vehicles (which I am not a fam of).
