Gonna buy a controller I think

I kinda want the Duke. Paddles do sound sweet tho.

They’d learn to aim without it, wouldn’t they?

Imagine the unprecedented levels of backlash though.

On PC there seems to be a decent amount of aim assist on controller. Better not take your controller to Console.

Yeah, it probably wouldn’t be taken very well by the people playing in tournaments.

That said, I don’t think there’s much of a reason to disable aim assist.
If everyone is using controllers, it’s a level playing field.
Their aim still depends on them, and the skill they have is shown not just from how well they aim but how well they maneuver.

Right, but I’d rather watch M&K players. But there won’t be any because they can’t break into the scene because of AA on controller.

That’s your preference, I suppose.
Really I don’t like watching any tournaments (even for physical sports), because it just makes me want to play the games.

Why aren’t there different tournament groups though?
One for controllers and one for mouse and keyboard.
Sort of like the different weight groups I think boxing has.

Probably because of money. They don’t want to shell out prize pools for two separate tournaments.

That’s unfortunate.
I’d say maybe they could split it, but that might make it less appealing.

“Raw input”. Good God. Troll much? Do we really need to explain to you why aim assist exist on controller? Let me give you a hint: It has something to do with aiming with only 2 thumbs VS. aiming with a whole god-damn arm and a hand.

Instead of aiming with your mouse, try aiming with the touchpad of your laptop where you can only use one finger on and see how easy that is. :joy:

But appearantly aiming on controller is super easy and the pro’s aren’t that great because they need aim assist. So please, show your controller gameplay and lets show us some Lucid next level movement, aim and game sense. I’m dying to watch it.

I can’t wait for good motion (like VR) or mind-based (like The Matrix) input devices for games.

The controller vs mouse and keyboard problem will probably go away.

It’s not hard at all and I never said that about it being hard. If you wanna be specific. Halo 5 and up are all on the same page. I say always because it’s been 6 years

Yes, I understand. An inferior input needs an artificial bump to contend. What happens when that artificial bump is a little too much? You get this game where controller pros can pretend like they have god like aim.

If I were to play with touchpad, I’d expect 343 to give me some kind of artificial increase in my aim. You know, like how controller was given an artificial increase to their aim.

Right now, aiming on controller is much easier than aiming on M&K, otherwise we’d actually see pros using M&K, but we don’t because of the aim assist. I’m not denying there’s a skill gap on controller because there is, but the skill ceiling of controller is much lower than that of M&K.

All I’m saying is that I’d rather watch pro FPS gamers use an input where how accurate they are isn’t determined by an outside force (the developers). It’s pathetic watching pros use a controller in an FPS game and has no appeal to the wider PC audience.

If it continues to go this way, i’m sorry to say, the competitive scene for Halo Infinite will be as dead as Halo 5’s pro scene. An absolute disgrace.

Don’t know how you’ve last so long. I gave up after a day and swapped to controller.

Beasting it easy peasy ever since.

Took me forever to secure a s2 Elite Halo theme controller at retail price… but I finally did it!

Merry Christmas to me

I mean, if you’re bad with K&M you’re gonna waste $60 and be bad on controller too. Idk why people think controllers make them gods.

So you think controller is the way to go eh? I play on controller. Have fun…

That’s not true.
Someone who is bad with keyboard and mouse might be better with a gamepad.
Maybe not so much better that they become able to play in tournaments, but there might be a noticeable improvement.

I have a difficult time using a keyboard and mouse to play games because it’s difficult for me to press the correct keys while looking at the screen and to remember which keys do what.
With a controller, the movement is a lot more simple (using one finger instead of three), the buttons are easy to reach, and there’s usually not many buttons to remember.

You use the same amount of buttons on keyboard as mouse because there are the same amount of actions to perform. The only difference is WASD instead of a stick. If you’re having trouble remembering what buttons to press I mean that’s more of a problem with a lack of familiarity with a keyboard. There’s not really more or less to focus on. That’s like saying a controller is confusing just because someone typically plays in K&M and doesn’t know what the buttons do.

Controller will always have superior movment. Mouse will always have superior aim(in theory)
