The amount of XP you get from the legendary packs is fixed. You can check it in the carnage report and get an breakdown of how much you earned that match (look for boost).
I don’t really bother too much with Arena boosts, the xp per match isn’t usually worth it. I know that frustration with joining midgame and not maximising from the booster, same with Gambits, can join midgame and basically throw away an entire boost
all personal preference of course.

If it’s a JIP game you don’t lose your boost. The next game you play the boost will show back up in your toy box. I won’t play JIP games for that very reason. It’s a waste of time when your trying to get maximum xp. I think 343 ought to reward the players for getting dumped in a game that’s almost a sure loss.

If you’re trying to grind out just xp i’d suggest Warzone FF. I wait until its double xp to use my good boost. But in the meantime I just use the common and uncommon boost.
