Gold Weapon Skin

Anyone that has played Gears 2/3, and numerous CoDs should be familiar with the gold weapon skins More specifically in Gears 2 the gold weapon skin was something that stuck out and really seperated you from the rest of the crowd and was not a very common addition in the game. They were about as rare and cool (to me) as Recon armor When I started playing Halo 3 online (just after ODST released) so i thought about how awesome and similar the two things were and since we know weapon skins in halo 4 exist and are in the game that they should also have gold weapon skins in halo 4. However I believe that instead of how gears and cod worked on unlocking them it should be something like recon armor in halo 3. This is because in CoD (more specifically Black Ops) it was really just a large grind, but these grinds are not really a reflection of “skill” like recon was. In gears 2/3 getting most of the gold weapons required going to a midnight release or buying the limited edition of the game, the same problem with black ops, it doesnt reflect skill. Now i believe most can agree that getting recon wasnt so much as a challenge as it could be, with the exception of endure because it required 4 decent players with decent internet and around 2 hours to complete, so what the gold weapon skin should be is like the vidmasters where we have several challenges to complete that have some difficulty to them to complete (I personally liked the difficulty level of endure, it was a great time with me and my friends). By completing these actions you would unlock yourself the gold skin on all your weapons and maybe even a bright shiny gold for FFA, cause you know you cant ever be to much of a target :). SO i would like to know what the community thinks about this idea.

Tl;DR Do you think it would be cool if we had gold weapon skins that unlocked by doing challenges similar to the previous vidmasters.

I never really liked gold camo/skin for any game. So i would have to say no to this.

No gold skins. The skins we have seen so far are original and cool looking. Gold is just flashy and made to show off.

Wow.

Can we please break away from this COD mindset?

What’s so hard about thinking outside of the box. Enough of copying other games; gold isn’t the only color out there.

I would prefer an “Onyx” weapon skin.

We already have a gold skin watch the magic behind halo 4 video at 1:32 the guys editing gold armour

No thanks…

^^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^^ i saw some neat photobucket skins some one made. they were all cool and original. but i cant remember the video other wise id link it.

that was a template color. not the final product. and for all you know it could have just been him editing in the shade of yellow for armor customization. i know nothing about graphic designing and even i know that it was just a template.

I hope not. Gold weapon skins look way too cheap and tacky.

Hey, if someone wants a gold skin, let them have a gold skin. You don’t have to use it!

What ever bro… I like gold …I don’t understand why people wouldn’t let other people enjoy the game in their fav color just because they don’t like it …just don’t use it

i have no problem with gold… i was just pointing out that it was a template. or a shade of yellow. and besides in my experience of using gold armor. its not the best idea. you might as well say “here shoot at me” which in my case was a good thing because everyone lined up for kills. but that’s beside the point. i still think the tradition of unlocking armor through vidmasters should be kept

It saddens me very much that everyone who sees any correlation with any additional aspect of any game with Call of Duty assumes its a very bad and wrong idea. Personally I am not a big CoD fan, however i buy the games and play with friends when they want to as well as achievement hunt the game. However I am a very big Gear Head and one thing that has created within me is the want of a Gold Color weapon skin. Yes it would be flashy and be used to flaunt one’s ego all over xbl but thats what the flame head was in reach, recon armor in 3, and any other slightly hard to obtain item in any video game. In terms of originality of other skins all ive seen is arctic camo which was not original in anyway, which to me is no problem I enjoy some of the “classic” weapon skins however of those gold has been my favorite. And like many people when it comes to customization if you dont like it dont use it, its not too hard, however it would be quite rude to deny a large quantity of people their favorite color simply because you dont agree with them, everyone should have their own skins they enjoy.

The only gold skins in Halo should be on my Warthog

It doesn’t even have anything to do with CoD, gold weapon skins have been in hundreds of games. It’s just overused.

Only games i can think of is CoD Gears RDR Max Payne and somewhat GTA4 not even 10, yes it is the most used customization skin color i can think of but that is because its a popular color and is usually used to recognize ones skill in a game which has always been a cool idea in my opinion.

A shiny gun in a war-zone. Seems like a good idea

No, thanks.
